The Introduction of a Civil Engineering Program with Specialized Minors to Keep Pace with Market Developments

The Head of the Civil Engineering Department at the College of Engineering at the University of Bahrain (UoB), Dr. Nuha Jamal Al-Zayani, announced that the Department is working to complete the final version of the bachelor’s in a civil engineering program with minor tracks, noting that the expected tracks are in the fields of construction engineering, structures, roads and transportation, water resources, and the environment.

Dr. Al-Zayani stressed that these tracks keep pace with the needs of the labor market and developments in urban development, noting that the tracks were developed in consultation with the Civil Engineering Programs Advisory Committees in several meetings.

Also, Dr. Al-Zayani indicated that one of the advantages of the new tracks is that they extensively review the applications of modern technology and sustainability in the fields of civil engineering, in addition to adopting a mixture of direct and electronic education methods to ensure the provision of appropriate qualification for graduates.

The head of the Civil Engineering Department expressed her optimism about the results of the new plan once it is adopted and implemented, explaining that the recently established master’s program in civil engineering with a minor track system is attracting countless engineers in the labor market.

Moreover, she stressed that the efforts of the members of the academic and administrative staff in the Department are focused on supporting the University student’s educational journey, especially in the exceptional circumstances the world is going through, pointing to everyone’s keenness to ensure the achievement of highly qualified educational outputs.

The head of the department urged students to attend educational events, and to benefit from the distance academic advising service, as it is one of the most important tools that support students’ success and help them in overcoming challenges.
