Head of Nursing Department at the University of Bahrain Reviews Development of “World Health Organization Collaborating Center (WHOCC)”

Head of the Nursing Department at the University of Bahrain and the Director of “World Health Organization Collaborating Center for Nursing Development (WHOCC)”, in the Middle East, Dr. Leena Mohammad Khonji, reviewed development the Collaborating Center during the past years.

Dr. Khonji paid a visit to the office of the World Health Organization, and met the representative of the World Health Organization in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Dr. Tasnim Atatreh. During this visit, Dr. Khonji “The academic programs of the Center are in line with both the labor market needs in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the standards of quality assurance of education and training, which witnessed remarkable development in the past years”.

Dr. Khonji talked about the history of the Nursing Department at the University of Bahrain, as a center collaborating with the World Health Organization for nursing development, and the prominent role the Center plays at the local, regional and global levels in the development of the nursing and midwifery.

In turn, Dr. Atatreh praised the University of Bahrain, and commended the vital role played by the Nursing Department. She expressed that the Centre is looking forward to more cooperation with the University of Bahrain at the local and regional levels.

Dr. Khonji also met with the representative of the organization for the Middle East Region, Dr. Gulen, and talked about the objectives of Bahrain’s Collaborating Center with the organization, the future plan of the Center, and the development of a strategy for scientific research in nursing and midwifery sciences.
