In Cooperation with WIBD.. UoB’s IT Launches a Program to Prepare Female Students for the Labor Market

The Career Guidance Committee for Women in Information Technology at the University of Bahrain (UoB) announced the launch of a career guidance program, which aims to support female students’ readiness for the labor market after graduation.
This came during a symposium organized by the College of Information Technology in cooperation with the Women in Big Data Organization (WIBD), entitled “Career Guidance for Women in the Fields of Information Technology”.
In this context, the Dean of the College of Information Technology, Dr. Lamia Mohammed Al Jasmi, said: “The Career Guidance Program will provide the opportunity for the participation of female volunteers who wish to provide career guidance to female students in the various fields of technology and engineering, and provide assistance and support through various activities, including: online seminars, meetings, discussion groups, and communication platforms.
Also, Dr. Al-Jasmi spoke about the role of women in the field of information technology, and gave a presentation on the development of the number of colleges at UoB, the expansion of the College of Information Technology’s programs since its inception, and the increase in the percentage of female students studying at the College of Information Technology, in addition to the motivational activities organized by the College for female students and their supporting programs, and the role of women in the field of information technology in general, and the awards and advanced positions achieved by the distinguished female students in several events and competitions.
In turn, the Head of the Career Guidance Committee for Female Students at the College of Information Technology, Dr. Hessa Jassem Al-Junaid, explained that registration in the career guidance program will be available to all female students at the College of Information Technology, and she called on entities, institutions and specialists in the field of information technology in the Kingdom of Bahrain to participate as “mentoring and instruction partners”, and look through the program, then register within the career guidance program.
For her part, Head of Human Resources and Sustainability at the National Bank of Bahrain, Dana Buheji, reviewed the application of the experience of the career guidance program at the National Bank of Bahrain, and explained the importance of mentorship in the work environment.
In addition, the President of WIBD in the Russian Federation, Marina Alexeeva, presented her experience in career guidance for women in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), and explained the most important requirements of the mentor and trainee to complete the program.
