Urging its Affiliates Holders of the Green Shield to Participate in the Program, the University of Bahrain Organizes Several Activities and Games on Bahrain Sports Day

The University of Bahrain declared that it will conduct a diverse program on Bahrain Sports Day next Thursday February 10, 2022 and urged its students and affiliates holders of the Green Shield, according to the traffic light mechanism, to participate in the activities taking place on the university premises in Sakhir.

The Dean of Student Affairs at the university, Dr. Fatima Mohammad Al-Malki, confirmed that the university is keen to participate in the Sports Day, according to the directives of the esteemed Council of Ministers, noting that physical activity is necessary for people to satisfy their biological and psychological needs.

Dr. Al-Maliki stated, “Physical activity helps people have a lively and healthy life, while lack thereof results in weakness and sickness.” She pointed out that “The University of Bahrain has long been taking care of extra-curricular activities in parallel with academic activities in the classrooms.”

Dr. Al-Maliki stated that the sports day program, which will be held in the courtyard of the university mosque and the university racetrack, will consist of many competitions, sports, and various games, the most important of which is a three-kilometer walking race. She stressed that the organization teams are keen to apply the precautionary instructions starting from the time of registration of participants, starting at nine o’clock, until the end of this annual event.

Dr. Al-Maliki urged students and members of the administrative and academic staff to participate in the activities of the Sports Day at the university premises in Sakhir, while adhering to the precautionary instructions and guidelines. She stressed that only Green Shield holders can take part in this event and that all participants will be subject to Covid-19 rapid test prior to the launch of the program.

The sports day program, which will last for several hours, is organized by the Deanship of Student Affairs at the university in collaboration with the College of Health and Sports Sciences.

The program shall start at nine o’clock on Thursday morning, February 10, 2022, at the mosque’s courtyard, to register participants in the sports and walking program. The registration process will be followed by the rapid test, the three-kilometer walking program, games, sports competitions, and the accompanying events.

Games shall include volleyball, football, athletics, long jumping, skip rope, table tennis, and other games, such as speedball, hoop round, and others.

Winners of the first places in the competitions and games will receive prizes.

On this occasion, the Cabinet resolved that Thursday, February 10, will be a half workday in all ministries, authorities, and government institutions, to give the employees the chance to take part in the activities of the Sports Day, in a manner that consolidates the role of sport as a societal culture.
