Dr. Al-Mudhaki Lauds the Efforts of Dr. Albuflasa in the Field of Environment and Renewable Energy

The President of the University of Bahrain, Dr. Jawaher bint Shaheen AlMudhaki, stated that The University of Bahrain takes pride in selecting the Head of Physics Department, College of Science, Dr. Hanan Mubarak Al Bufalasah, as a model for a scientist interested in climate action.

Upon receiving the Head of Physics Department, the President of the University of Bahrain stated that the tireless and continuous efforts of Dr. Al Bufalasah in the climatic action over successive years made her one of the most prominent researchers not only in the Kingdom of Bahrain, but also worldwide.  Dr. AlMudhaki noted that Dr. Al Bufalasah was selected by the UN Women as one of the most prominent scientists in the field of sustainability, environment, and renewable energy.

Dr. AlMudhaki pointed out that environmental and renewable energy issues are related to a number of sustainable development goals approved by the United Nations and the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain. Accordingly, the University of Bahrain pays great attention to the issue of renewable energy and has been a pioneer in taking initiatives in this regard.

For her part, Dr. Albufalasah thanked the UoB President for the university’s continuous support for research, scientific and academic issues related to the environment, noting that her selection by the United Nations as one of the most prominent scientists in environmental issues in the Kingdom of Bahrain is a source of pride and an incentive for exerting more and continuous efforts and paying attention to various environmental issues.

It is worthy to note that Dr. Albufalasah holds a PhD and a master’s degree in renewable energy and has contributed to establishing renewable energy laboratories and the Higher Diploma Program in Meteorology at the University of Bahrain. She has many contributions and scientific publications at the national and international levels, including Bahrain’s Human Development Report. At the end of last year, she led a student team to build an environmentally friendly house powered by renewable energy, as part of the Expo 2020 Dubai, and the team ranked third internationally.
