The Secretary-General of the Association of Arab Universities Lauds the Advanced Level of Education at the University of Bahrain

The President of the University of Bahrain, Dr. Jawaher bint Shaheen Al-Mudhahki, stressed the role played by the Kingdom of Bahrain in providing equal opportunities for Bahraini youth with the aim of building and maintaining a strong and stable economic environment. Accordingly, the University of Bahrain has adopted such important strategies in its policies to achieve sustainable educational and administrative goals, believing that Economic development is a common responsibility of government, the private sector, and the society.

Dr. AlMudhahki expressed her happiness with the participation of scientists from international universities and research institutes from more than 20 countries in 38th Business & Economics Society International (B&ESI) Conference, held at the University of Bahrain last week. She also thanked the organizing committee from the Department of Economics and Finance, College of Business Administration, the University of Bahrain.

For his part, the President of Business & Economics Society International in the United States, Prof. Dimitri Cantarellis, stated that the association takes pride in the University of Bahrain for hosting the conference in its 38th session, for three consecutive days (2-4 March 2022). He noted the importance of such events as they review research developments and updates and submit recommendations that contribute to the process of economic and social development, noting that the Kingdom of Bahrain supports advancement of the future of scientific research.

For his part, the Dean of the College of Business Administration at UoB, Prof. Hatem bin Mahmoud Al-Masry, stated that the partnership between the College of Business Administration and Business & Economics Society International is an opportunity to have researchers, academians and students share and expand knowledge, which is one of the goals of the College of Business Administration. The working papers submitted in the conference were distinguished in terms of high quality and scientific and cognitive diversity.

The Secretary-General of the Association of Arab Universities and the former Minister of Higher Education in the Arab Republic of Egypt, Prof. Amr Ezzat Salama, lauded the strong historical relations between the Association and UoB which has been hosted the Association of Arab Colleges of Sciences for twenty years. He expressed his happiness with the development and high level of all the colleges of the UoB. He lauded the extensive experience of the president of the university and the founder and previous head of Education and Training Quality Authority in former Kingdom of Bahrain, which contributes to raising the level of the university regionally and internationally and academic courses to satisfy the international standards for quality assurance and accreditation.

Prof. Salama touched on the role of education and scientific research in economic and social development and facing challenges by strengthening education policies and investing in education to raise the level of human capital, with the aim of achieving competitiveness in global markets and increasing economic growth.

The three-days conference held 18 sessions, chaired by members of the academic staff of the University of Bahrain, a member of the American University of the Middle East, and a member of Guangzhou University, China. The sessions discussed 92 research papers that addressed industrial organization, human resources, finance, practice, environmental issues and marketing, economic development, management, technology issues, education issues, finance and investments, accounting, and macroeconomic issues.

The founder and CEO of “Knowledge Horizons Ltd Company” and the former Minister of Labor and Minister of State for Investment Affairs in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Prof. Maan Mardi Al-Qattamin, gave a lecture in which he touched on the need to keep pace with scientific and technological developments. He explained that metaverse is the next form of the Internet that will prevail in the world in the near future, taking into account the importance of directing the new generation to the optimal use of the tools of modern technology.

Professor of Economics at the Australian National University, Professor Dr. Satya Paul, gave a lecture entitled “Measuring Welfare Inequality in the World: A Multidimensional Approach”. The Director of Property Rights, Empowerment and Excellence at Central Falls, Rhode Island, the US Dr. Sergio Baez, gave a lecture on the third day of the conference entitled “The Future of Education”.

At the conclusion of the conference, the Head of the Department of Economics and Finance at the University of Bahrain, Dr. Hana Saeed Bawazir, thanked the speakers and participants in the conference for their valuable scientific contributions during the various sessions. Dr. Bawazir congratulated the Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics and Finance, Dr. Ammar Barham Jreisat, on being selected as a chief editor of the International Business and Economics Research Journal for the conference edition on “Emerging Global Trends: The Future Begins Today”. Dr. Jreisat will select a number of research papers submitted to the conference by participants from all over the world for publication in the special issue of the journal, which will contribute to the advancement of scientific research in various fields.
