The Legal Clinic Center at UoB Launches a Legal Skills Program for Students of the College of Law Expected to Graduate in 2022/2023

The Acting Dean of the College of Law, University of Bahrain, Dr. Salah Mohammed Ahmed, stated “The Legal Clinic Center at the College of Law is preparing to launch the legal skills clinical program for the students of the College of Law expected to graduate in 2022/2023.” He stressed that the new program will be launched in mid-March 2022.
Dr. Salah explained that the Legal Skills Program for Law Students aims to provide distinguished legal education that qualifies graduates to advance legal work, through developing cognitive, legal, and research skills, in line with the needs of society and the labor market. The new program targets students of the College of law expected to graduate next year.
Dr. Salah indicated that the program is based on field visits to bodies related to legal work, including the Supreme Judicial Council, the Legislation and Legal Opinion Commission, the Ministry of Interior, the National Institution for Human Rights as well as law firms.
Dr. Salah added that the program contains workshops on topics related to the practical and legal aspects such as legislative drafting, legal interpretation, drafting memoranda, judicial reports, legal advice, practical applications of court pleadings, and legal translation. The new program also provides workshops on personal development in the world of innovation, communication skills, teamwork, as well as organization and planning for the working life.
He added “The program qualifies the student to obtain a detailed participation certificate, documenting his participation in the program and adding to his CV and his competitiveness in the labor market.”
The Legal Clinic and Human Rights Center implements the program every semester and receives applications from students wishing to join the program at the beginning of each semester. It is implemented after the end of the first month of the semester to the end of the semester, at times that do not conflict with students’ lectures and exams.
It is worthy to note that the Legal Clinic and Human Rights Center was established at the College of Law, University of Bahrain in 2013 to contribute to achieving the vision and mission of the University of Bahrain in serving the Bahraini community.
