UoB Concludes Middle East Conference for the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business

The University of Bahrain has concluded on Thursday (3 March 2022) the Middle East conference for the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business which took place over four sessions and a discussion forum.
The conference included accreditation leaders and coordinators from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), in addition to deans of business colleges in many countries in the Middle East and Africa, faculty members, and a number of participants.

The Regional Head of the Middle East and Africa (AACSB International), Ihsan Zakri, and Dean of the (ESCA) School of Management, Thami GHORFI, have answered questions from the audience about the accreditation process and business accreditation standards for the year 2020 in a “question and answer session on accreditation”.
For his part, Coursera Partnerships Manager in the Middle East, Zaher Srour, presented the “Industry: Coursera to Campus” session, and introduced the attendees on how Coursera can collaborate with top business institutes and industry partners to provide essential business skills such as: Fintech, Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, the R programming language, and Python, with business education increasingly focusing on technology and data science.
The President of Ajman University, Dr. Karim Al-Seghir, along with the Dean of the College of Commerce and Business Administration at Dhofar University and the Acting Vice President, Dr. Sayed Jameel, discussed the institutional journey that includes developing a common vision, developing a strategic plan, and engaging stakeholders in reviving and implementing the plan, and how to transform strategic planning into an effective reality, using KPIs, performance contracts, and continuous review of objectives.
The Dean of Coller School of Management at Tel Aviv University, Professor Moshe Zviran, shared the university’s experience in creating and implementing its vision, passing through technological changes in the academic system, promoting entrepreneurial and innovative thinking since the beginning of the students’ journey in academia, focusing on creating new projects, and assimilating the world of entrepreneurship and innovation in all disciplines.
The conference sessions, “The Regional Forum for Diversity and Inclusion in the Middle East”, concluded the “Diversity in the Classroom” session, presented by the Dean of the College of Business Administration at the American University in Dubai, Dr. Asaad Farah, and an expert in the future of education, Dr. Nihal Shabrak, who worked to expand the scope of talks from the Global Conference on Diversity and Inclusion in December 2021. They discussed efforts to promote inclusion, as it relates to teaching, learning and assessment processes. In addition to the panel discussions presented by the Regional Director for the Middle East and Africa at the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, Ihsan Zakri, and the Executive Vice President for Europe, Middle East and Africa at AACSB International, Timothy Mescon, who provided a space to exchange insights on initiatives, best practices and experiences for the Middle East region.
In addition to the College of Business Administration at the University of Bahrain, the College of Business Administration at Ajman University, College of Business at Al Ain University, College of Business Administration at the American University in UAE, College of Business at the American University in Dubai, and the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), the College of Business at the Gulf University of Science and Technology, and the Dubai Business School at the University of Dubai contributed to organizing the conference.
