The President of UoB Discusses Strengthening Cooperation and Developing Partnerships with a Delegation from Amazon Web Services (AWS)

The President of the University of Bahrain, Dr. Jawaher bint Shaheen AlMudhadhi, stressed the importance of adopting pioneering technology in the university curricula to enhance compatibility between educational outputs and the labor market and contribute to the development of digital infrastructure of education and sustainability curricula, in line with Bahrain Economic Vision 2030.

The President of the University of Bahrain made this statement on receiving a delegation from Amazon Web Services (AWS) on Sunday 20 March 2022 at the university premises in Sakhir. The delegation was headed by Eng. Nayef Al-Enezi, Director of AWS in Bahrain, and included the Leader of Customer Innovation Programs in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) for AWS Services For the public sector, Mike Bainbridge, Head of Digital Innovation at the AWS Bahrain Cloud Innovation Center, Nidal Uday Al-Basha, and Strategic Accounts Lead, Ahmed Al-Sawafiri. The two parties discussed cooperation in the fields of development of information technology and cloud computing.

During the meeting, the President of the University of Bahrain noted that UoB seeks to keep pace with the rapid transformation witnessed by the education sector in the field of information technology and cloud computing and encourage innovation and leadership to support the cloud computing in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

For their part, Nayef Al-Enezi and Mike Bainbridge lauded the fruitful cooperation between UoB and AWS, noting the positive effects of integrating cloud computing into the education sector, especially in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

The two parties reviewed the experience of UoB affiliates with the Cloud Innovation Center in collaboration with AWS and the university’s cloud strategies that aim to promote innovation and leadership, to develop services and solutions in this sector.

The meeting was attended by Dean of the College of Information Technology Dr. Hessa Jassim Al-Junaid, Director of the E-Learning Center, Dr. Sheikha Fay bint Abdullah Al Khalifa, Director of Media Center Dr. Mazen Mohammad Ali, and the head of the University Projects Committee Dr. Fuad Mohammad Al-Ansari.
