In cooperation with the Pearl Initiative organization, the College of Business Administration at the University of Bahrain (UoB) held an interactive seminar for students of the College of Business Administration, entitled “Enhancing the Inclusive Workplace: A Case Study of Schneider Electric”.
An “inclusive workplace” is a work environment in which all employees feel valued while recognizing their differences and how those differences contribute positively to the organization’s culture and business outcomes, without bias or discrimination.
The seminar was delivered by Schneider Electric’s Talent Acquisition Business Partner, Amira Amro, and it was aimed at bringing business and youth leaders together, informing and inspiring students on how business ethics topics can be applied in practice by companies in the Gulf region.
Also, the seminar was organized and moderated by the Assistant Professor in the Department of Management and Marketing at the College of Business Administration, Dr. Naglaa Fathy Al-Desoky, for university students, especially students of master’s in human resource management, as the number of participating students reached 452 male and female students.
Dr. Al-Desoky expressed her gratitude to the Pearl Initiative team for the fruitful cooperation and great efforts, as the students had the opportunity to build a bridge between theory and practice while answering many questions related to business ethics, and to expand their critical analysis skills, by preparing a page on “lessons learned” after the seminar.
The seminar resulted in students gaining awareness of ethical and sustainable business practices, and a practical insight into how leading regional organizations implement such initiatives. In addition, the spokeswoman indicated that Schneider Electric is ready to receive students from UoB, to complete the requirements of practical training in the Company.
It is worth noting that the Business Pledge was launched in 2017 at the Pearl Initiative and the UN Global Compact’s Regional Forum ‘Sustainability in Action’, which highlights the vital role of the private sector in promoting responsible and sustainable growth based on good corporate governance practices in the Gulf region.
