The Dean of the College of Information Technology at the University of Bahrain (UoB), Dr. Hessa Jassim Al-Junaid, announced that the College will offer seven programs at the bachelor’s level in the next academic year (2022-2023), namely: cybersecurity, cloud computing, computer science, information systems, computer engineering, software engineering, and network engineering.
Dr. Al-Junaid welcomed high school students enrolling in UoB, and she stressed, “All the College’s programs are much in demand by students due to the great need in the labor market in the Kingdom of Bahrain, explaining that the cybersecurity and cloud computing programs will be offered for the second (evening) period as well, due to the high demand, and the market need for their outputs from UoB.
Also, she stated: “We are experiencing the fourth industrial revolution based mainly on modern technology, which has completely changed and will change the world, and therefore all institutions – whether they are financial, service, technical, industrial or other institutions in the public and private sectors – are in a constant race to hire graduates of the College of Information Technology, which has a distinguished reputation locally and regionally.
Furthermore, Dr. Al-Junaid said: “The bachelor’s programs in computer science, computer engineering and information systems have been accredited by the International Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) since 2010, and the computer engineering program was re-accredited in 2014 and 2020, while the computer science and information systems programs were re-accredited in 2017 as well, which means that graduates of these programs have the same curricula that students have in the most prestigious international universities.
