The President of the University of Bahrain, Dr. Jawaher bint Shaheen Al-Mudhahki, stated that the College of Information Technology is considered one of the most important windows of the University of Bahrain on the future as information technology is closely and increasingly related to all aspects of life, placing the College at the core of the expected transformations in the various fields. Dr. Al-Mudhahki lauded the great interest His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa attaches to this area through the repeated calls for paying attention to the adoption of modern technologies, artificial intelligence and the pillars of the 4th Industrial Revolution in order to keep pace with the developed nations. This was focused on in the speech of His Majesty during the inauguration of the second session of the Fifth legislative term in November 2019.

This took place in a meeting held by the President of the University of Bahrain on Tuesday May 24, 2022 with the affiliates of the College of Information Technology, including academians and administrators, as part of a series of meetings Dr. Al-Mudhahki holds weekly with affiliates of the different colleges and departments of the UoB.

Dr. Al-Mudhahki stated, “Fortunately this meeting coincides with an important occasion, which is the 36th anniversary of the University of Bahrain (established on May 24, 1986), which witnessed many developments and inspiring and positive transformations over these decades. The University of Bahrain has effectively and significantly contributed to providing Bahrain with highly qualified and sophisticated youth cadres, and has always supported the transformations the Kingdom of Bahrain went through.”

The President of UoB briefed the attendees on the university’s plans, aspirations, and current and future endeavors for development and improvement, as well as the ongoing efforts for advancement of academic and administrative fields.

The affiliates of the College of Information Technology raised many questions, inquiries and proposals during the meeting, some of which were related to the College in particular while others were related to the university in general. Dr. Al-Mudhahki indicated that issues that have not been addressed due to lack of time will be considered by the administration and the proposals will be carefully studied to implement the most practical ones.

The President of the University, the Vice President for Community Service and Alumni Affairs, Dr. Mohammad Saleh Al-Ansari, the Vice President for Information Technology Services and Administrative and Financial Affairs, Dr. Osama Abdullah Al-Jowder, and the Vice President for Academic Programs and Postgraduate Studies, Dr. Mohammad Reda Qader took turns answering the questions of the attendants.

Dr. Al-Ansari presented a set of statistics that indicate that graduates of the College of Information Technology are in high demand in the labor market and that various institutions compete to attract students in the practical training semester, which often ends in employment of the graduates.

Dr. Al-Jowder reviewed a number of issues of administrative nature in response to some questions raised in the meeting. He indicated that certain issues are under study, and that some of them will be finalized after holding meetings with the relevant authorities.

At the end of the meeting, the Dean of the College, Dr. Hessa Jassim Al-Junaid, thanked the President of the University and the Vice Presidents for the direct dialogue with the College’s affiliates, noting that such effective and useful communication leads to enhancing the work of the UoB.
