A Master’s Student at UoB Receives Award For the Best Nursing Research at The Level of Government Hospitals

The student at the University of Bahrain (UoB), Laila Salman Turki Al-Matrook, won the scientific research competition award for the employees of government hospitals in the Kingdom of Bahrain 2022. Al-Matrook received the competition award, during an honoring ceremony held under the patronage of the Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health, His Excellency Lieutenant-General Dr. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, and in the presence of the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Governmental Hospitals, Sheikh Hisham bin Abdulaziz Al Khalifa.
As the student Al-Matrook won the award for the best research in the field of nursing at the level of government hospitals, out of 235 research papers.
Al-Matrook participated with her research that she submitted to obtain a master’s degree in adult health nursing at UoB, entitled: “A Qualitative Exploratory Study on The Experience of Nurses in Providing Care for Patients with Advanced Cancer in The Oncology Unit in Bahrain”, in a scientific symposium held for government hospitals. The winning research was supervised by the Dean of the College of Health and Sports Sciences (CHSS), Dr. Lina Mohammed Khenji, and the Head of the Nursing Department at the College, Dr. Magda Mohamed Bayoumi.
The honoring ceremony – which was organized by the Executive Administration of Governmental Hospitals and the Research and Research Ethics Committee, in cooperation with the Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Health – was attended by Chief Executive Officer Dr. Ahmed Muhammad Al-Ansari, and a number of government hospital employees.
