A technical study at the University of Bahrain (UoB) found that the “Thiqa” program contributed to raising the level of awareness in the field of cybersecurity among those affiliated with government sector institutions.
The study reinforced the importance of the “Thiqa” program among national cadres in improving the level of cybersecurity, and confirmed that the level of awareness was reflected in the position of the Kingdom of Bahrain at the local and global levels in the field of cybersecurity.
Moreover, the study concluded that “Thiqa” program has a direct impact on improving the maturity level of cyber security for government institutions, as the program has enhanced the awareness of individuals in the field of cybersecurity, which led to a decrease in the rates of cyber-attacks.
Also, the study, which was presented by the student Khaled Mohammed Shaheen as a requirement for a master’s degree in cybersecurity, discussed the role of the cybersecurity framework, “Thiqa Program for Information Security”, in improving and raising the level of cybersecurity among workers in government institutions in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The discussion committee consisted of: Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Engineering at the College of Information Technology, Dr. Alaa Yousef Al-Omari, as an internal examiner, and Dr Bharanidharan Shanmugam from Charles Darwin University in Australia, as an external examiner, in addition to the coordinator of the Master’s Program in Cyber Security, Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Engineering, Dr. Wael Mohammed Al-Madani, as the thesis supervisor.
