Dr. Al-Mudhahki: The Prestigious College Is Preparing to Conclude Distinguished International Agreements and Partnerships UoB Celebrates the College of Arts’ Procurement of International Accreditation from ASIC

The President of the University of Bahrain (UoB), Dr. Jawaher bint Shaheen Al-Mudhahki, honored the work team concerned with the procurement of the College of Arts at the University of the international accreditation certificate by the British Accreditation Service for International Colleges (ASIC), praising the efforts of the College that qualified it to obtain the highest rating (the Premier Institution) from the Agency, after meeting all the approved quality and evaluation criteria.
The President of UoB extended her congratulations to the College’s members again, and said in a speech during a celebration on the occasion on Wednesday (June 29, 2022): “The prestigious College of Arts is preparing to conclude distinguished international agreements and partnerships after obtaining accreditation,” noting that this would open new horizons for the College and it holds promise for further advancement of its programs, helps to revitalize its research and academic initiatives, and to continue its pioneering path.
As the College of Arts is one of the oldest colleges in the University, with its roots dating back to 1978, and it obtained the international accreditation certificate last April, which was announced in the meeting of the College’s affiliates with the University President.
Dr. Al-Mudhahki praised the efforts of the College’s members and its affiliates, and the quality frameworks in the College and University, who focused their efforts and contributed to the achievement of this unprecedented achievement by the College of Arts. Furthermore, she said, “This achievement is the fruit of cooperation between all of the College’s affiliates, including professors, administrators, employees and students, as everyone had a role to play.”
For his part, the Dean of the College of Arts at the University, Dr. Abdulaziz Mohammed Bulaila, indicated the importance of the disciplines of humanities and literature for the individual and society, as they are concerned with the study of humans, their environment, identity, language, and religion, and it is a cultural system that builds the human being, who in turn reconstructs Earth.
Also, Dr. Bulaila – in a speech during the ceremony – indicated that obtaining this international accreditation supports the College’s endeavors to enhance the skills of the twenty-first century, especially relating to free critical thinking, creativity, cooperation between scientists, and benefiting from communication sciences, whether traditional or electronic.
He pointed out the importance of openness to other nations, and working to achieve the sustainable development goals adopted by the United Nations in 2015, which are at the root of openness and cultural cooperation between different countries, organizations and universities.
The list of honorees included: members of the College of Arts Council, heads of academic departments in the College, director of the Quality Assurance Office in the College, heads of academic committees at the College of Arts, members of the Quality Assurance Committee at the College of Arts, administrators cooperating in the organization, and a list of professors who gave direct lectures to representatives of the ASIC during their visit the College of Arts, the professors and administrators who attended the accreditation visit sessions, in addition to the director of the University’s Quality Assurance and Academic Accreditation Center, and representatives of the centers and departments visited by accreditation representatives.
While the Director of the Quality Assurance Office at the College of Arts, Dr. Amani Sayed Musa Al-Halwaji, explained in a previous statement that the College fulfilled all the requirements and conditions for accreditation, represented in fulfilling six axes: learning and education, quality assurance and academic development, quality of attention and care for students, safety of educational buildings and its facilities, health and safety, governance and management, human resources, certificates awarded and educational qualifications, pointing out that the audits continued for several months, and included a field visit to the College campus, where the Agency’s delegation met with all concerned parties.
It is worth noting that the College of Arts offers 12 academic programs at the undergraduate level (bachelor’s) and postgraduate levels (higher diploma and master’s) through five academic departments: Arabic and Islamic studies, English language and literature, social sciences, media, tourism and arts, and psychology.
