Under The Slogan “Eskan’s Contribution to A More Interconnected World” Eskan Bank Honors the Winners from UoB’s Architecture Of the Creative Engineering Award in Its Ninth Edition
Eskan Bank and the University of Bahrain (UoB) held their annual awards ceremony for the winners of the “Eskan Bank Award for Creative Engineering” in its ninth edition, which came under the slogan “Eskan’s Contribution to A More Interconnected World”, under the generous patronage of Her Excellency the Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, Ms. Amna bint Ahmed Al-Rumaihi. As the students of the Department of Architecture at the College of Engineering at UoB participated in this competition, after being evaluated by a jury consisting of experienced academics and engineers.
The student, Hind Issa Ahmed Al-Jowder, won the first prize, while the student Suad Jamal Radhi Ali won the second prize, and the third prize went to the student Maryam Ali Khalifa Al-Dossary. Also, a number of students received certificates of distinction for their distinguished architectural designs and with the students votes.
On this occasion, Her Excellency the Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, Mrs. Amna bint Ahmed Al-Rumaihi, praised the role played by the participants from the College of Engineering students at UoB, stressing that the annual participation in the award represents a focal point for development endeavors for all sectors, including the engineering innovation sector, and is an embodiment of their keenness to sponsor engineering, and their pride in the advanced level of the Kingdom’s students, which heralds a promising future for a generation characterized by a creative sense, and the ability to challenge and innovate.
Furthermore, she added, “The current global trend is pushing cities to be more suitable for their residents, in terms of providing the elements of quality of life, suitability of needs, as well as in terms of sustainable transformation, and the development of environmental, social and institutional governance, which is the inclination called for by the Kingdom of Bahrain, through the establishment of housing cities that include all commercial, educational, health and sports facilities and services, in addition to paying attention to the aesthetic and environmental aspects, which encourage economic and climatic sustainability, and is in the interest of achieving such goals”.
Moreover, Her Excellency expressed her thanks to UoB and the Eskan Bank for their patronage and their generous commitment to continue the distinguished partnership between them, and their quest to open broad horizons for students, and train them to keep pace with engineering sciences, according to the best sustainability and quality standards.
For her part, the President of UoB, Dr. Jawaher bint Shaheen Al-Mudhahki, stated: “We at the University of Bahrain are keen to provide our students with all the opportunities to show their abilities and creativity driven by the deep belief in the abilities and capabilities of the Bahraini citizen, which has always been expressed by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and this is what makes us very keen to continue constructive cooperation with the Eskan Bank, and to invest this opportunity that it offers to our students for the ninth year in a row, since it has more than one meaning, as it motivates our students to express their creativity, and to show their best capabilities and solutions, bringing them closer to the requirements of the labor market that they will enter soon after, and it also demonstrates the support and assistance of the Eskan Bank to familiarize our students with the needs of the community, the local and global markets, to be up to date with recent developments and trends in the world of engineering”.
In addition, the University President added: “We at the University of Bahrain are proud of the societal partnership with the Eskan Bank, as it is at the forefront of the institutions that have taken their position from our program at the University. We wait annually for the innovations and creativity that our engineers will surprise us with, especially since the conditions set by the University and the Bank’s teams achieve high standards for the contestants, capable of enriching their experiences, pushing them to innovate and innovate, and engage in the labor market”.
The General Manager of the Eskan Bank, Dr. Khaled Abdullah, commented: “This is a fruitful and successful partnership that spanned over nine years with the University of Bahrain, in which students of the College of Engineering were given the opportunity to experience challenges, in order to reach the highest levels of excellence and innovation, despite all circumstances.”
Also, Dr. Khaled added: “We sought to complete what we have started in cooperation at a reasonable pace, in order to develop the most important sectors that receive an important share of everyone’s attention, through our societal responsibility towards strengthening the Kingdom’s role in providing comfort and a decent living for our citizens, and supporting the efforts and targeted endeavors of the Ministry of Housing, believing in the importance of housing for every citizen while finding the best options, in line with the constantly changing data, challenges and developments, we continued our support and cooperation with the University of Bahrain so that this award reaches the best levels with its ideas and creativity”.
Dr. Khalid Abdullah congratulated the winners and participants for their outstanding participation, and expressed his happiness for the continuous cooperation with the distinguished scientific edifice of UoB, and the quality of the submitted works, and their inclusion of innovative ideas that could be adopted in future projects.
While Eng. Iyad Obaid, General Manager of the Eskan Real Estate Company, confirmed that “the Bank, through the Eskan Real Estate Company, is keen every year to present a title to the competition in which it gives an opportunity for students to sharpen their ideas and creativity in line with the needs of the Bahraini society.” As he stressed that the Bank chose the award topic to suit the current trend of establishing vertical projects pursued by the government as well as the private sector alike, in order to spread this culture that is commensurate with the future construction and demographic data.
Also, Eng. Obaid expressed his admiration for the dazzling creative ideas and designs, the quality of the submitted works, the seriousness of the students, and their achievement of the criteria and standards for the Award, which is considered enough to enrich the experiences of the new generation of engineers.
The Dean of the College of Engineering at UoB, Dr. Sheikha Haifa bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, expressed the College’s pride in this long and interactive partnership with the Eskan Bank through this competition, describing it as an event that students are always looking forward to, as they see it as an important and favorable opportunity to implement what they have learned, and the projects they have experienced over these years, as they get excited by creative competitions, which greatly develop their capabilities, adding that the College is keen on having this type of partnership that makes students more connected with the engineering market, and more aware of its requirements locally and globally.
It is noteworthy that the “Eskan Bank Award for Creative Engineering ” is an annual award established by the Eskan Bank in partnership with UoB in 2013, as a contribution to fueling the spirit of creative competition, extending the horizons of creativity and innovation to young minds, and engaging them in the national housing and construction affairs, and to help the young generation of engineers get acquainted with the housing needs of families, and participate in developing solutions for them.
The award is granted according to high professional standards for outstanding projects for students of various engineering branches at UoB, and it is launched each year under a different title chosen according to modern scientific and technical developments and trends, in order to serve the anticipated sustainable development goals, in order to meet the housing and construction needs in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
