A professor at the University of Bahrain (UoB) participated in medical research that won the award for the best international research published in Sports Health journal for the year 2022.
The assistant professor in the Department of Physical Education of the College of Health and Sports Sciences (CHSS) at UoB, Mohammed Abdullah Mohammed – within a team composed of researchers from: Saudi Arabia and Australia – researched a topic entitled: “Combining Copenhagen Connector Exercise and Rear Thigh Exercise Improves Dynamic Balance among Male Athletes”, with the possibility of adding a specialized exercise for the muscles of the hamstring, and an exercise for the connective muscles of the hip joint to improve the dynamic balance.
The findings of the study showed there was a significant improvement in balance in the group that applied the hamstring muscle exercise, and in the group that applied the connective muscle exercise as well, compared to the group that did not apply any of the exercises, as the study was applied to a sample of 200 male players.
Moreover, Dr. Abdullah stated that: “The importance of this study’s results is due to the necessity of adding these exercises to specialized sports programs in order to prevent future injuries and develop balance, which leads to a reduction in injury rates.”
It is worth noting that the Sports Health journal is dedicated to publishing specialized health research, and it is a journal within the Scopus World Ranking.
