Two Professors at the University of Bahrain Rank Among the Top 2% of the Most-Cited Researchers in the World in the American Stanford University Rankings for 2021 and 2022

Two professors at the University of Bahrain were ranked by Stanford University, the United States, among the top 2% of the most-cited and influential researchers worldwide, in the recently released ranking of 2021 and 2022.
The Associate Professor of Solid State Physics at the College of Science, University of Bahrain, Dr. Aqil Aziz Dakhel, and the faculty member at the College of Health and Sport Sciences, University of Bahrain, Dr. Asukan Govindaraj Vathinathan, appeared in the list.
Stanford University is one of the most important research universities in the United States. It was founded in 1885 by Leland Stanford and is based in California.
Dr. Dakhel is an Associate Professor of Solid State Physics at the University of Bahrain since 1999. He obtained his PhD in 1980 from Russia in Solid State Physics. He obtained the master’s degree in 1975 and the bachelor’s degree in 1971 from the University of Baghdad. He has 182 approved research papers published in international journals. He authored seven books in physics that are taught in several universities in Arab countries, including Algeria and Libya. His research scored a value of 29 in the Scopus database, which contains summaries and references from articles published in peer-reviewed academic journals.
Dr. Vathinathan joined the University of Bahrain in 2010, in the Allied Health Sciences Department, College of Health and Sport Sciences. He is a professor of epidemiology and public health and an active researcher in the Cochrane Library specialized in evidence-based clinical research.
Dr. Vathinathan is the Public Health Program Coordinator in the College of Health and Sport Sciences, a Fellow of the American College of Epidemiology and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Public Health, and a member of the Cochrane Collaboration. He has co-authored about 60 scientific publications, and reviewed research papers published in peer-reviewed medical journals.
