University of Bahrain President Discusses Enhancing Collaboration with the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program

The President of the University of Bahrain, Dr. Jawaher bint Shaheen Al-Mudhahka, discussed with the acting resident representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Firas Gharaibeh ways to enhance joint programs, stressing the strong and fruitful relations between the University of Bahrain and the United Nations Development Programme. Dr. Al-Mudhahka pointed to the multiple initiatives over decades of continuous cooperation with the Program and their positive impacts on university students and academians.

While receiving the representative of the UNDP, on Tuesday November 8, 2022, at the university’s premises in Sakhir, Dr. Al-Mudhahka noted the newly introduced academic programs at the university, which complement the goals of the United Nations Program, to achieve the sustainable development goals, that the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain is committed to. Dr. Al-Mudhahka reviewed the academians’ aspirations, and the university’s recent developments, which aim to create more opportunities for collaboration with the UNDP in the future.

For his part, Mr. Gharaibeh welcomed enhancing collaboration with the University of Bahrain, stressing on the distinction of the University’s students and the efficiency of its academians, anticipating a future that is more consistent with the goals of sustainable development, and is largely in line with the UNDP’s plans.

It is worthy to note that UNDP works in nearly 170 countries and territories, helping to achieve the eradication of poverty, reduction of inequalities and exclusion, and building resilience in order to sustain development results. Therefore, the program plays an important role in helping countries achieve the sustainable development goals.

The meeting was attended by Vice President for Academic Programs and Postgraduate Studies, Dr. Mohammad Reda Qader, Dean of the College of Science, Prof. Mohammad Mustafa Al-Helou, Dean of the College of Law, Dr. Salah Mohammad Ahmed, Director of the Media Center, Dr. Mazen Mohammad Ali, and Assistant Professor in the Department of Information Systems at the College of Information Technology, Dr. Amal Mohammad Al-Rayes.
