Several students of the Arts and Design Program at the University of Bahrain participated in the “Art for Peace” project trip that recently headed to the Bosnian capital, Sarajevo.
Five students in the Arts and Design program who participated in the trip, organized by visual artists in Bahrain, drew five paintings in shapes symbolizing the dove of peace, under the supervision of the faculty member in the Department of Mass Communication, Tourism and Fine Arts at the university, Dr. Sama Alawi Al Hashimi who accompanied the students on the trip.
The student delegation consisted of Zuhair Mohammad, Mansour Yassin, Qasim Jihad, Nour Adel, and Rahma Ahmed. They participated in several artistic activities during the trip, within the framework of the “Art for Peace” project.
Student Mansour Yassin stated, “The experience was rich as it allowed us to accompany great artists who spared no effort to offer guidance and advice.” He referred, “We enjoyed the roles we played on the trip as were involved in the technical committee which enabled us to converse with the artists and gain confidence.”
Yassin added, “We have been encouraged by artists and some of them have commended our artwork. This was necessary so that junior artists can make their way in the world of art.” He expressed his happiness with the noble message of the “Art for Peace” project.
Yassin stressed that enrollment in the Art and Design program at the University of Bahrain contributed to refining his skills and encouraged him to work hard.
It is worthy to note that the models of peace doves are large paintings in which artists embody their ideas and belief in peace in their countries and the world, to emphasize the importance of art as an inspiring message that can improve the lives of the peoples of the world.
