The Unit for Teaching Excellence and Leadership Skills Organizes a Graduation Ceremony for 142 Members of UoB Academic Staff

The Unit for Teaching Excellence and Leadership Skills at the University of Bahrain organized a graduation ceremony for 142 faculty members who participated in the Unit’s continuing professional development programs approved by the British Higher Education Academy 2016-2021, under the patronage of the President of the University of Bahrain, Dr. Jawaher Bint Shaheen Al Mudhahka, on Tuesday November 29, 2022.
The President of the University expressed her pride of the efforts of the Unit for Teaching Excellence and Leadership Skills. These efforts included graduating numerous university cadres, providing education development programs and specialized workshops and focusing on enhancing teaching and learning through the development of leadership skills and academic performance. The Unit’s programs achieved remarkable success, as evidenced by the development reflected in the performance of the faculty members and students according to the latest analytical studies.
During the ceremony, 49 graduates of the Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (PCAP) program, 76 graduates of the Continuing Professional Development Program (CPD), and 17 graduates of the New to Teaching in Bahrain (NTB) program were honored.
For his part, Advance HE Director of International Partnerships at the British Higher Education Academy, Christian Rampell, lauded the remarkable development of the educational cadres at the University of Bahrain at the Individual and institutional levels. Rampell pointed to the close relationship between the Unit for Teaching Excellence and Leadership Skills since its inception in 2016 with the British Academy of Higher Education.
The Director of the Unit for Teaching Excellence and Leadership Skills, Dr. Diana Abdulkarim Al-Jahrami, expressed her happiness with the graduation of the academic staff and obtaining various levels of fellowship, and the University of Bahrain being accredited by the British Academy of Higher Education (Advance HE), for the next four years, starting from September 2022 to September 2026.
Dr. Diana lauded the support the Unit receives from UoB and its strategic relations with partners. She reviewed some of the achievements of the Unit at the local and regional levels during the past few years, through offering such programs, particularly continuing professional development program in Arabic in 2021, being the first university in the world to offer this program in Arabic. The University of Bahrain received the largest number of participants in the Program and holders of the fellowship or participating fellowship and organized a global conference that attracted an elite group of participants.
The College of Engineering, the College of Information Technology, and the College of Health and Sport Sciences, respectively won the Best College Award for graduating the largest number of participants in the Unit’s programs for the years 2016-2021.
During the ceremony, the organizing committees of Unit for Teaching Excellence and Leadership (UTEL) were honored. The ceremony was attended by a representative of the British Embassy, Emilia Mateva Smith, a representative of the British Council, Noora Al-Sabah, Vice President for Academic Programs and Postgraduate Studies Dr. Mohammad Reda Qader, Vice President for Community Service and Alumni Affairs Dr. Mohammad Saleh Al-Ansari, in addition to the deans of colleges, heads of departments, and many guests.
