The University of Bahrain Jumps 95 Places in the World Global University Ranking for Sustainability Green Metric for 2022

The University of Bahrain ranked first in the Kingdom of Bahrain on the 2022 UI Green Metric World University Ranking (UI Green Metric – 2022), and 363rd worldwide out of 1050 universities.

 

The University of Bahrain obtained very high scores (above 85%) in three out of six areas, namely infrastructure, water management, and education. The University of Bahrain has jumped 95 places as compared to 2021 assessment. The University of Bahrain obtained 6725 points, whereas the highest score in the world was 9300 points. The progress made by the University of Bahrain in this assessment reflects the success of the University in introducing strategic measures that achieved Sustainable Development Goals in its university activities.

 

For her part, the President of the University of Bahrain, Dr. Jawaher bint Shaheen Al-Mudhahka, expressed her happiness with this remarkable progress of the University in the Green Metric classification for 2022 and lauded the committee that contributed to achieving this progress headed by the Chairman of the Department of Physics at the College of Science, Dr. Hanan Mubarak Al-Buflasa, and several faculty members of the university’s various Colleges. Dr. Al-Mudhahka also directed those concerned to seek to develop strategies to implement additional measures to improve the University’s ranking in the rest of the assessment areas, namely energy, climate change, waste management, and transportation, so that the University can make greater progress in promoting sustainability and preserving resources and the environment in the coming years.

 

The UI Green Metric World University Ranking (UI Green Metric) is made by the University of Malaysia. 1050 universities from 85 countries applied to this assessment which is based on showing the extent to which universities worldwide have improved in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, which mainly aim to promote sustainability and preserve resources and the environment.
