The Dean of the College of Business Administration, University of Bahrain, Prof. Hatem bin Mahmoud Masri, stressed that practice of circular organizational structure enabled young leaders to develop the educational process in the College, through appointing program coordinators, heads of departments, and directors from the youth category. It also helped the College promote a culture of work, love of giving, and the creation of innovative ideas, regardless of the position in the hierarchical structure. It resulted in leaders with a vision to create a promising future.

The Dean stressed that the experience of the College of Business Administration in empowering youth is an embodiment of the belief of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of the Kingdom of Bahrain, may Allah protect him, in the ability of the young people to lead, and to enhance the youth experience in Bahrain, to continue to make outstanding achievements, with high professionalism and global competitiveness.

The Dean of the College of Business Administration participated in the Innovative Practice Forum, organized by Bahrain Institute of Public Administration (BIPA), in collaboration with the United Nations Development Office. He gave a scientific presentation under the theme “Circular Organizational Structure to Empower Young Academians to Lead Change in Higher Education.”

Prof. Masri pointed out that the idea of practicing circular organizational structure to empower young academians in the College of Business Administration is inspired from the Kingdom of Bahrain’s leadership strategy to empower the young people and involve them in sustainable development processes and stimulate their innovation and creativity. It is also in line with King Hamad Award for Youth Empowerment, and other training programs such as “Leaders”, “Cadres”, and the Prime Minister’s Fellowship Program. Prof. Masri noted that the College takes pride that two of its members are among the names of the eighth batch of this program.

Prof. Masri explained that the use of circular organizational structure aims to accelerate the process of change and lay the foundations for flexible management, as it supports the traditional hierarchical structure. Work focuses on a common professional goal and is based on structures that contain work teams of the same functional level and similar roles.

He stated, “In order to continue development, College leaders must tolerate loss of power associated with traditional hierarchical structure mechanisms, fully engage in a culture of participation, invest the energy of young leaders in creativity and innovation, and use the advantages of circular organizational structure to improve the performance of the College and the University.”
