During graduation projects exhibition for IT students UoB President Praises the Quality of IT students Graduation Projects

The President of the University of Bahrain, Dr. Jawaher bint Shaheen Al-Mudhahka, praised the quality and level of graduation projects presented by the students of the College of Information Technology, during a visit she made to the graduation projects exhibition for the first semester of the current academic year 2023/2022. She stressed the importance of projects keeping pace with the rapidly changing world of technologies, as projects reflect a need in the professional sectors in the Kingdom of Bahrain and provides services and solutions to society.
Dr. Al-Mudhahka called on institutions in the public and private sectors to view students’ experiences by developing projects that can contribute to facilitating various practical difficulties and challenges. She noted that many companies seek to adopt some of UOB students’ graduation projects due to their quality and the fact that they meet these companies needs.
The UOB President also praised the students’ and professors’ efforts to achieve the sustainable development goals and keep pace with the latest technical issues and topics, which aligns the University of Bahrain student’s level of achievement with that of prestigious universities. Dr. Al-Mudhahka explored the project exhibition that included around sixty projects in information systems, computer engineering, and computer science.
For her part, the Dean of the College of Information Technology, Dr. Hessa Jassim Al-Junaid, said that 165 students affiliated with academic programs from the disciplines of computer science, computer engineering and information systems, submitted 57 graduation projects this semester. The topics varied to keep pace with contemporary technologies in modern and advanced fields such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, algorithms, Internet of Things, blockchain, natural language processing, image processing, electronic games, business analysis, and facial and speech recognition technologies.
“In addition to technical skills, the completion of these projects requires additional skills such as commitment, teamwork and time management, which are fundamental for work environments and real-life applications that qualify students to engage in the labor market with responsibility and acquired skills that open them to the fields of entrepreneurship in the future,” she added.
The President of the University of Bahrain honored the winning students in the nine projects (three projects from each discipline), which were judged by faculty members and a number of workers in the public and private sectors, who praised the renewed ideas put forward by the students in their graduation projects.
It is noteworthy that this exhibition is repeated at the end of each semester and is a prerequisite for graduation from the College of Information Technology and receives attention from various professional sectors, as it embodies the best scientific outputs of students during their studies. These outputs qualify students to provide solutions and innovations capable of facing current and future challenges to serve the labor market and entrepreneurship for further economic progress in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
