Under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, may God protect him, the graduation ceremony of the 24th batch of UoB students will be held on 19-29 January 2023.

The President of the University of Bahrain, Dr. Jawaher bint Shaheen Al-Mudhahka, stated, “The patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, may God protect him, represents an important incentive for the University of Bahrain and its graduates, who take pride in graduating from the most prestigious higher education establishment in the Kingdom of Bahrain, which has had the most important contributions to all areas of development in our dear Kingdom.”

Dr. Al-Mudhahka added that the University formed several committees to make the necessary arrangements of the ceremony, as it is one of the most important events for university students, as the culmination of their scientific achievement, in one of the stages of their life.

For his part, Vice President for Academic Programs and Postgraduate Studies, Dr. Mohammad Reda Qader, stated, “One of the most important elements of the graduation ceremony at the University of Bahrain is awarding academically distinguished students special awards named after Arab and Muslim scholars, who had important contributions in the relevant fields, to draw a connection between the past and the present, and in recognition of the ancestors’ contributions.”

Dr. Qader pointed out that this tradition has been followed by the University in the past twenty years. Distinguished students are identified from among the high achieving students according to specific criteria. These criteria include that the student must be regular in the bachelor program at the University and that he has completed all graduation requirements in the program period, not exceeding five years. The student must have never failed a course throughout his study and must be of good conduct throughout his study at the university. The student must have obtained first-class honors in GDP (3.90 and above out of 4.00).

Dr. Qader added, “When the concerned committee has applied these criteria, 73 male and female students were nominated in this cohort, which includes graduates from the batched of 2017/2018 to 2021/2022. Students will be contacted to be informed of the same during this week.

The Dean of Student Affairs and Chairperson of the Executive Committee, Dr. Fatima Mohammad Al-Maliki, stated, “Work is underway to finalize all logistical issues related to the biggest graduation ceremony in the history of the University of Bahrain, which will take place over eleven days.”

It is worthy to note that more than 11,000 male and female graduates have registered to attend the graduation ceremony for this cohort.
