The University of Bahrain Holds Graduation Ceremony for the Students of Nursing, Physiotherapy and Radiology Technology of the College of Health and Sport Sciences

The Dean of the College of Health and Sport Sciences, Dr. Lina Mohammed Khonji, expressed her pride in the efficiency of the graduates of the College of Health and Sport Sciences and the role they play in serving the health sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain. She stressed that the College has worked since its establishment in 1976 to provide the nursing sector with Bahraini talents. It succeeded in providing the health sector with hundreds of graduates in the various fields of healthcare.

 

Dr. Khonji made this statement on Thursday evening, January 19, 2023, at the graduation ceremony of the 24th batch of University of Bahrain students (2017 – 2022 batches) which is held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister. The ceremony included the graduation of 456 male and female students in the majors of nursing, physiotherapy, and radiology technology, out of a total of 1429 students who registered to attend this graduation ceremony. Another ceremony will be held for graduates from the rest of the disciplines in the College.

 

Dr. Khonji gave a speech at the graduation ceremony. She described the graduation ceremony as, “The day of reaping the fruits of toil, diligence and academic achievement, which resulted from parents’ support of their children to reach this important stage in their scientific and practical life.”

 

Dr. Khonji added, “Today we appreciate the efforts of the distinguished professors who provided the students with high quality educational services and supported students throughout their study at the University of Bahrain.”

 

The dean addressed the graduates, “Today you are standing on the threshold of a new stage in your life. Graduation is not the end, but rather a new beginning to complete your academic journey, which you began with your studies at the undergraduate level. We hope you will pursue a postgraduate degree, to keep up with the latest developments in your field so that you can contribute to its advancement in the Kingdom of Bahrain and abroad, serve your country and optimally represent it in the various forums and fields.”

 

The graduate, Alaa Sayyed Jawad Hassan gave the graduation speech in which he expressed happiness and gratitude and extended the graduates thanks to the University of Bahrain. He said,  “We are very grateful to our university, which has spared no effort to graduate a conscious generation capable of carrying out the process of modernization, and keeping pace with the qualitative shifts the Kingdom is witnessing, under the directives of Her Excellency Dr. Jawaher bint Shaheen Al-Mudhahka, the President of the University of Bahrain, and with the tremendous efforts of the deans, heads of departments, and all academic and administrative staff of the University of Bahrain.”

 

The graduates received their graduation certificates from the Vice President for Community Service and Alumni Affairs, Dr. Mohammad Salih Al-Ansari.

 

It is worthy to mention that the University of Bahrain is holding 20 graduation ceremonies for its students, on 19-29 January 2023, with two ceremonies a day, one in the morning and the other in the evening.

 

It is worthy to note that the Faculty of Health Sciences was established in early 1976, in collaboration with the American University of Beirut under the supervision of the Ministry of Health. Following a royal decree in 2011, the College was merged with the University of Bahrain. In 2019, the College of Physical Education was merged with the College of Health Sciences under the name “College of Health and Sport Sciences, by virtue of a resolution of the Board of Trustees of the University of Bahrain.
