The University of Bahrain Holds Graduation Ceremony for Students of the College of Engineering

The Dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Bahrain, Dr. Shaikha Haifa bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, called on the graduates of the college to complete the path of success and excellence in their working life, and to pursue postgraduate degrees. She expressed her confidence in the capabilities of the graduates, noting that the number of graduates of the College of Engineering in this cohort amounted to 2976.

 

Dr. Haifa Al Khalifa lauded the University of Bahrain’s graduation ceremony of the 24th batch of university students, which is being held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, may God protect him, for (2017/2018 – 2021/2022) batches.

 

Dr. Haifa gave a speech at the ceremony witnessed by the Minister of Transportation and Communications, His Excellency Mr. Mohammed bin Thamer Al-Kaabi, the President of the University of Bahrain, Dr. Jawaher bint Shaheen Al-Mudhahka, the vice-presidents and several members of the board of directors of UoB. She stated that this batch includes 57 graduates from postgraduate programs, 810 graduates from the Department of Architecture & interior design, 360 graduates from the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, 505 graduates from the Department of Chemical Engineering, 720 graduates from the Department of Civil Engineering, and 524 graduates from the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

 

In her speech to the students, the Dean of the College of Engineering said, “This joyful ceremony is the outcome of the efforts exerted by our students and their teachers throughout this stage, during which the students were keen on learning, developing their personalities and using scientific research methods in their projects.”

 

Dr. Haifa noted the ability of graduates to overcome difficulties, hoping them every success in the next stages, to contribute to the progress and development of their country in various engineering fields.

 

The graduates expressed their happiness, gratitude and thanks to the University of Bahrain, in a speech delivered by the graduate, Hanouf Issa Fakih, in the morning graduation. Fakih said, “We, the College graduates, are proud of the University of Bahrain, which is a great scientific edifice that graduates generations able to contribute to the development and renaissance of this great country.”

 

Fakih, winner of the Yazid Bin Salam Award in Architecture, added, “In this joyful ceremony, we are thankful to God Almighty. We would like to extend our thanks to our dear parents, who have sought since our childhood to instill in us the values of our Islamic religion and Arabic customs and encouraged us to learn, through providing us with the appropriate study environment, that enabled us to complete our university study.”

 

For his part, graduate Hossam Fawzi Harb affirmed, “We will always recall this ceremony which will remain a source of motivation and incentive for all students to more excellence and success in their academic and practical lives.”

 

Harb, who received the Mohammed bin Musa bin Shaker Award in Measurement and Control Engineering, expressed his happiness at dedicating this success to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the Kingdom of Bahrain, and to His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Ministers.

 

During the ceremony that took place in the morning, the graduates of the programs of Architecture & Interior Design and Environment Architecture received graduation certificates from the Vice President for Academic Programs and Postgraduate Studies, Dr. Mohammad Reda Qader in the presence of the graduates’ parents.

 

The evening celebration was dedicated to students of the programs of Electronics Engineering, Instrumentation and Control Engineering. The students received their graduation certificates from the Vice President for Community Service and Alumni Affairs, Dr. Mohammad Saleh Al-Ansari.

 

It is scheduled to complete the graduation for students of the College of Engineering tomorrow morning, for students of electrical engineering, chemical engineering, and mechanical engineering programs.

 

The University of Bahrain is holding 20 graduation ceremonies for its students on 19-29 January, with two ceremonies per day, one in the morning and the other in the evening, except for Friday when only one evening ceremony is held.

 

It is worthy to mention that the history of the College of Engineering at the University of Bahrain dates back to 1968, when the Gulf Technical College was established, which later turned into the Gulf College of Technology, and then into the College of Engineering after the establishment of the University of Bahrain in 1986.

 

The College of Engineering offers 24 academic programs at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in its five departments, namely architecture & interior design, electrical and electronics engineering, chemical engineering, civil engineering, and mechanical engineering.
