Interior Design Students at the University of Bahrain Visit Mirzaam Design Exhibition in Kuwait

The Head of the Department of Architecture and Design, College of Engineering, University of Bahrain, Dr. Huda Mohammed Al-Madhoob, stressed the importance of enriching students’ learning experiences.  Dr. Al-Madhoob said this can be achieved through field, educational and cultural tours and visits, which enhance students’ experiences and introduce them to international projects and cultures.

 

The Interior Design Program organized a visit for its students, who are about to graduate, to the Mirzaam Interior Design Exhibition in Kuwait, established by the interior design engineer, Kuwaiti businesswoman Farah Al-Humaidhi. The exhibition, which is the largest and most comprehensive in the field of interior design in the Middle East region, was held on 6-10 December.

 

Dr. Al-Madhoob noted that the exhibition seeks to support and upgrade the interior design industry among amateurs and professionals regionally and globally, through presenting many projects related to interior design in the Middle East and North Africa region. She pointed out that architecture and interior design disciplines require constant access to the latest developments in the labor market, getting involved in real-world experiences and being aware of the latest trends in areas of design, furniture, and lighting to meet customers’ needs.

 

Companies specialized in supplying materials and products related to interior design and service offices participated in the exhibition, which included many live performances and workshops. The workshops were presented by several pioneers in several disciplines, including interior designers, interior decorators, academians, architects, and contractors.

 

The research and teaching assistant at the Department of Architecture and Interior Design at UoB, Maryam Jalal Obaid, explained that the aim of this visit is to make the most of the exhibition through attending various workshops and seminars. She noted the visit included reviewing some projects and cultural centers with distinguished interior designs in the State of Kuwait, to obtain new experiences and knowledge in designing buildings such as museums, commercial and cultural centers, as well as traditional spaces.

 

Obaid mentioned that the visit, which lasted for three days included a visit to the Grand Mosque, The Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmed Cultural Centre, and the Mirzaam Interior Design Exhibition. She added that it also included some tours to various landmarks in the sisterly State of Kuwait.
