In Cooperation with The Ministry of Health and With a Wide Participation The Activities of The Gulf Nutrition Week at UoB Kicks Off

The “Gulf Nutrition Week” activities were launched at the University of Bahrain (UoB), on Sunday (February 26, 2023), where the health awareness and education activities organized by the College of Health Sciences and Sports (CHSS) attracted a large number of both students and academics.
Students of CHSS, and specialists in the Ministry of Health, provided explanations about the types of healthy foods, and the most important ones. As the first day included presentations of food categories, and the types of beneficial and harmful fats.
This activity aims to spread and promote a culture of healthy nutrition and physical activity at the University, which is one of the standards of the Health Promoting Universities program, in addition to supporting healthy lifestyles.
The nutrition week program had a range of educational and awareness activities, including a lecture entitled “How to Prepare Healthy Meals for Work?”, and a workshop titled “How to Become a Conscious Consumer?”, where participants will be trained to read the food label correctly. Additionally, a walking activity will be organized at the University, as well as a lecture on nutrition and common mistakes.
In addition, the program included a number of educational activities and competitions such as: daily questions competition for students, a competition for calculating the number of steps, a competition for preparing a healthy recipe for employees, and a competition for searching for treasure for students.
The event was organized by the Department of Integrated Sciences at CHSS, in cooperation with the departments of the college, the Department of Information and University Relations at the University, the College of Science, and the Oral and Dental Health Program at the Ministry of Health. The organization of this program comes within of the GCC celebrations of the Gulf Nutrition Week, which takes place from 7 to 13 March of each year.
