An Academian from the University of Bahrain Learns about Entrepreneurship Programs at Universities in the United States of America

Head of Management and Marketing Department, College of Business Administration, University of Bahrain, Dr. Mesfer Mubarak Al-Muhanadi, participated in the program of “Quality and Accreditation Controls for Academic Programs in Business Administration and Entrepreneurship” held in the United States of America on 8-22 February 2023.

 

Dr. Al-Muhanadi was selected, within the program’s field visits, to visit East Carolina University to learn about entrepreneurship programs, and to take a closer look at their model program (RISE29), conducted by students and professors with the aim of contributing to the development of commercial enterprises and local projects in rural areas, including providing Consulting, feasibility studies, and other services that promote economic development.

 

The program also focuses on enhancing collaboration between American academic institutions and those of the Middle East and North Africa region, linking education outputs to the requirements of the labor market, quality controls in business and entrepreneurship, through the societal impact of colleges, and seeking to achieve an effective network of collaboration among the participants as representatives of their academic institutions.

 

Dr. Al-Muhanadi added that the program included a set of panel discussions that were hosted by the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Rowan University, with the participation of a group of professors and academians from various universities, and other academic and industrial institutions and organizations, that seek to create a positive impact in the community, through entrepreneurship curricula, particularly in teaching the principles of entrepreneurship, and linking them to student projects that target small and medium-sized enterprises, to enhance their growth.

 

Dr. Al-Muhanadi as well as 10 associate professors from the Middle East and North Africa, met the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the International Council of Small Business (ICSB) in Washington D.C, to learn about the role of the Council in supporting international institutions for micro, small, and Medium-sized enterprises around the world, and learn about the best international practices, with the aim of sharing them among Member States. At the end of the program, all participants met with officials of the educational and cultural office at the headquarters of the US State Department, to identify the program’s outputs and seek to achieve more collaboration between higher education institutions.

 

Dr. Al-Muhanadi received an invitation for participation from the organizing body (World Learning), sponsored by the US State Department, for his active contribution to the Forum of “Ideas Lab for Academic Programs in Business Administration and Entrepreneurship in Higher Education Institutions in the Middle East, North Africa and the United States of America,” held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on 19-21 July 2022.
