At An International Conference Organized by The Colleges of Law and Business Administration on The Economic Vision 2030 UoB President: The Economic Vision Launched by His Majesty the King Represents the Main Pillar of Development

The President of the University of Bahrain (UoB), Dr. Jawaher bint Shaheen Al-Mudhahka, stressed that the economic vision launched by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the country’s great King, in October of the year 2008, represents a fundamental basis for achieving development and developing the economy, with interest in improving standard of living for citizens of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

This came in the speech of the President University, Dr. Al-Mudhahka, at the opening ceremony of the second International Scientific Conference of the College of Law, which is being held in cooperation with the College of Business Administration, under the title: “The Economic Vision of the Kingdom of Bahrain 2030 and Its Effective Impact in The Legal and Economic Fields”, with Gulf and Arab participation, during the 19th and 20th of March 2023.

Dr. Al-Mudhahka stated that as the National University, UoB is keen to contribute with its expertise and capabilities to highlight the vision’s economic impact, the role of legislation and the judiciary in achieving it, the reflections of the vision on reality, its effective impact in the legal and economic fields, and drawing conclusions and recommendations that contribute to a sustainable economic development, with its positive repercussions on managing economic crises, the financial and business market, supporting private projects, attracting investment, governance, quality management, social justice, economic security, and the balance between the triggers of economic growth and sustainable development.

For his part, the Dean of the College of Law, Dr. Salah Mohammed Ahmed, stated, “Every investment or development needs a legislative system that provides it with a safe and encouraging environment, and a developed and effective judicial system in resolving cases and disputes quickly and fairly – prompt justice – and this is what the Kingdom of Bahrain has adopted in word and deed and in legislations and jurisdiction in light of the Economic Vision 2030, and the continuous and successive development we witnessed during it for both the legislative and judicial systems alike.

 

While the Head of the Accounting Department at the College of Business Administration, Dr. Abdullah Khaled Al-Jalahma, stated in a speech he delivered at the opening of the Conference, “The future economic success of the Kingdom will affect society more broadly, and will lead to creating a broad base for prosperity, and we believe that every individual can make a valuable contribution to society. The government’s role lies in providing the legal and regulatory framework that guarantees consumer protection and fair treatment for business owners, including foreign investors.”.

The Conference aims to identify the implications of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030, and comparative visions on public law legislation, and to demonstrate the impact of the vision and comparative visions on private law legislation, and to study methods of control and means of dispute settlement in light of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030 and comparative visions, and to analyze the role of vision and comparative visions on the national economy and society, exchanging views and finding effective formulations for mechanisms to achieve the principles of the economic vision of the Kingdom of Bahrain and comparative visions.

Researchers, academics, legal and judicial bodies, and relevant specialists from UoB and abroad, from various Gulf and Arab countries, including: the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Yemen, and Egypt, are participating in the Conference, which is held at the E-Learning Center at UoB, and presents and discusses more than 24 scientific papers, through five sessions over two days.

During its first session of the first day, the Conference discussed the axis of intellectual property and the rights of future generations within the framework of the economic vision, while the axis of investment and development was discussed on the second session. On the second day, dispute settlement methods, human rights and justice considerations, and principles of governance and anti-corruption will be discussed.
