UoB And Primary Health Care Centers Announce A Joint Program to Train Students and Provide a Scientific Research Environment For Health Personnel

The University of Bahrain (UoB) announced a joint program with Primary Health Care Centers aimed at training students and providing a scientific research environment for health cadres, in addition to investing the experiences and potentials of both sides that would contribute to the development of the health system and building health cadres in the fields of medical education, training, and scientific research.

On this occasion, the President of UoB, Dr. Jawaher Shaheen Al-Mudhahka, expressed her happiness at announcing the launch of this joint program with Primary Health Care Centers, stressing that the University is keen to continue to enhance the outputs of education, and to contribute with its scientific capabilities to the development of services and the economy in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and seeks to have joint coordination with community institutions from the public and private sectors in this context.

As Dr. Al-Mudhahka stated: “There is no doubt that this cooperation will succeed in providing students with the practical skills needed by the labor market, in addition to theoretical knowledge related to their specialties. It shall also result in providing an environment that encourages scientific research among cadres working in the field of health care in the Kingdom of Bahrain.”.

On her part , Dr. Lulwa Rashed Showaiter, Chief Executive Officer of Primary Health Care Centers, expressed her pride and happiness in this joint coordination with UoB, which contributes to achieving the vision of Primary Health Care Centers that aspire to have a “healthy society, through the provision of integrated health services, that operate with fairness, efficiency and high quality”, noting that UoB, with its technical capabilities and scientific capacities, has a major and essential role in developing the health sector in general, and the primary health care sector in particular.

Dr. Showaiter stressed the importance of continuing to strengthen partnerships and expand the horizons of coordination and cooperation with various educational agencies and institutions in order to involve working health cadres in more training programs and qualify them in a way that in enables them to employ the best modern professional methods and advanced technologies, and enhances their expertise in favor of developing the quality of the services provided in the medical sector.

It is worth noting that the joint program between UoB and Primary Health Care Centers aims to enhance cooperation between the two sides in the field of training students of various health specializations, and joint work to provide a stimulating environment for clinical education and training and conduct joint scientific research, which can contribute to the development of health services in the Kingdom of Bahrain and raising the performance efficiency of primary health care providers, in line with international quality standards, which is done by training health personnel working in primary health care centers – as needed – on scientific research methods, and enabling them to publish in approved international journals, with the help of scientific expertise from academics and researchers at UoB.

Moreover, primary health care in the Kingdom of Bahrain is based on many elements, such as: a network of health centers that spreads throughout the governorates of the Kingdom, and the application of family medicine services with qualified national cadres such as: family doctors, community health nurses, health promotion specialists, social researchers, and the provision of many preventive, diagnostic, therapeutic and rehabilitative services in the field of primary health care.
