Confucius Students at the University of Bahrain Learn About Scholarships to Study in China for 2023

The Confucius Institute at the University of Bahrain recently held a lecture introducing the types of scholarships for studying in China, in collaboration with the International Department and the College of International Education at the University of Shanghai, to support the youth of the Kingdom of Bahrain who are interested in the Chinese language and wish to study in China.

The lecture, which was attended by more than 50 participants, reviewed different types of scholarships, including Shanghai University Scholarship, Chinese Government Scholarship, Shanghai Municipal Government Scholarship, and International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship. The registration mechanism for these scholarships for students from the Kingdom of Bahrain was also explained.

Dr. Li Yingjie, Deputy Director of the International Department of Shanghai University and the Dean of the College of International Education, introduced the University’s strengths and its international exchange programs. She encouraged Bahraini students to seize the opportunity to study in China.

For her part, Director of the Confucius Institute, Dr. Ju Qianwen, stressed that the Institute seeks to promote Chinese language and culture, support local teaching of the Chinese language, and provide more scholarship programs to study the Chinese language in the future.

Over the past years, the University of Bahrain students were awarded scholarships to study in China for a period ranging from four weeks to one year. In addition, they participated in educational programs and activities that were held online.

The Confucius Institute is going to send some students from the Kingdom of Bahrain to study in China during the summer vacation. It also offers free courses, to help students of the University of Bahrain satisfy scholarship requirements and take the Chinese Standard Test (HSK).
