The President of UoB and the Turkish Ambassador Discuss Ways of Research and Academic Cooperation

The President of the University of Bahrain (UoB), Dr. Fuad Mohammed Al-Ansari, received the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to the Kingdom, Esen Çakıl, on Thursday (June 15, 2023) at the University’s headquarters in Sakhir, during which they discussed possible ways of cooperation in the academic and research fields between the National University and Turkish universities.

The President of the University briefed the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey on some of the university’s future plansand discussed strengthening cooperation between the two parties to benefit from scholarships in Turkish universities, and to increase the participation of students in exchange trips between Turkey and Bahrain. Noting the scientific and cultural activities that have already taken place between the university and various Turkish institutions, to exchange knowledge experiences, and to produce joint scientific research between universities at the regional and international levels.

Dr. Al-Ansari praised the developmental aspects that have been discussed in the meeting, including the development of the Yunus Emre Institute to accommodate large numbers of students studying there, and increasing the number of teachers in it, in addition to increasing the activities and events organized by the institute, pointing out that the idea of opening the doors of the institute to the community to study the Turkish language was done in coordination with the embassy.

Moreover, Dr. Al-Ansari stated, “The University of Bahrain was keen to establish cultural centers for languages, including the establishment of the Yunus Emre Center for teaching the Turkish language at the University,” referring to the Center’s interest in teaching students the Turkish language and Turkey’s heritage and arts, pointing to the great turnout to join the Center since its establishment.

For her part, the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey affirmed her keenness to develop relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and Turkey in various fields, including the scientific and cultural fields, the development of education, and research and academic cooperation, for the benefit of both parties, stressing the importance of communication between different cultures, through knowledge and advanced scientific research.
