A scientific study at the University of Bahrain (UoB) called for focusing on the digital content of Bahrain TV programs that are published through social networking sites, pointing to the need to choose the content in proportion to the medium and its characteristics.

The study was prepared by Nora Abdullah Al-Mansoori, a student in the Master’s in Media program at the College of Arts at the University, and it recommended developing the photographic process, and training the technical staff on the process of taking modern shots, which keep pace with advanced technologies, suggesting the development of a strategic plan for the appropriate publishing process for media content, and benefiting from specialists in selecting clips that increase viewers and widen the reach to the largest possible segment.

Al-Mansoori’s thesis was titled: “Digital Content of Bahrain TV Programs through Social Networking Sites (Case Study)”.

In addition, the study was presented as a complement to the requirements for obtaining a master’s degree in media, and it aimed at identifying the characteristics of the digital transformation of digital platforms, revealing the mechanism of programmatic diversity in the program sequence of Bahrain TV, and identifying the method of digital transformation of media content from Bahrain TV to digital platforms in terms of form and content, in addition to measuring media control indicators on the process of creating digital content and transferring it to the websites of digital platforms.

The researcher, Al-Mansoori, analyzed the content of a range of episodes of the program sequence of Bahrain TV, which consisted of 137 episodes, for the period from October to December 2022.

The results showed a diversity in the programs, varying between talk shows and live talk programs. However, there was a shortage in the programmatic sequence of children’s programs and competitions. Also, the study found that the programs relied on specific breaks, as sound effects were not used in the three platforms studied: Instagram, YouTube, and live broadcasts.

According to the results, digital content lacks a strategic plan to measure the indicators of publication and followers on social media.

Moreover, the thesis stressed the importance of not delaying posting clips on Instagram, choosing clips in an organized manner, and cutting content on digital platforms according to scientific bases.

An examination committee discussed the researcher, Al-Mansoori, in her thesis recently, and it consisted of: Associate Professor in the Department of Media, Tourism and Arts at UoB, Dr. Hatem Ahmed Al-Suraidi, as an internal examiner, and a faculty member at the College of Mass Communication at Cairo University in the Arab Republic of Egypt, Professor Dr. Wissam Nasr, as an external examiner, while the thesis was supervised by the Associate Professor of Media and Public Relations in the Department of Media, Tourism and Arts, Dr. Ashraf Ahmed Abdulmoghith.
