Dr. Qader Stresses the Importance of Training Workshops in Developing Academic and Leadership Practices The Excellence Unit at UoB Introduces the Faculty to Its Accredited Programs

The Unit for Teaching Excellence and Leadership at the University of Bahrain organized a training workshop on induction day, targeting faculty members enrolled in the Unit’s programs for the academic year 2023-2024 from various colleges in the University.
The workshop aimed to introduce faculty members to the Unit’s accredited programs, their role in the course of the educational process, the opportunities available to develop their academic practices, and the development of their teaching, leadership and professional capabilities, in a way that contributes to the development of university education.
The Unit of Excellence had received international accreditation in all its programs from the British Academy of Higher Education (Advance HE), the Postgraduate Certificate In Academic Practice (PCAP) Program, the Continuing Professional Development Program (CPD), and the New to Teaching in Bahrain (NTB) program.
The Vice President for Academic Programs and Postgraduate Studies, Dr. Mohammed Reda Qader, praised the role of these workshops in spreading the awarness on continuous professional development, encouraging the development of academic and leadership practices, and developing the teaching skills of all faculty members, to keep pace with the evolving requirements in the higher education sector.
The workshop was run by the Director of the Unit and Coordinator of PCAP, Dr. Hayat Abdullah Youssef, who reviewed what the program includes of theoretical and practical foundations of learning and teaching, assessment for teaching participants, facilitation of learning and support for students in higher education in an interactive way that keeps pace with the aspirations of learning and teaching in higher education.
At the beginning of the workshop, she reviewed the Univet’s services , its objectives, and its training paths, which include: the accredited programs it offers, specialized workshops, academic leadership skills, and fellowship levels.
In addition, CPD’s Coordinator, Dr. Noor Nabil Al-Dawy, introduced the program to faculty members wishing to further develop their educational practices, while preparing for a fellowship or associate fellowship.
While the coordinator of NTB, Dr. Halima Kadhem Ahmed, reviewed the program advantages, which enhances personal skills, enhances professional practice in teaching, and provides an effective assessment of contemporary teaching and learning strategies.
It is noteworthy that the Unit of Excellence obtained international accreditation in all its programs from Advance HE, for four years, starting from September 2022 to September 2026. Also, upon completion of an accredited program, participants will receive professional recognition as an Advance HE (AHE) fellows.
