The Team of the University of Bahrain Tops Universities in “Companies with Social Impact” Category

The President of the University of Bahrain, Dr. Fuad Mohammed Al-Ansari, congratulated the student team winner of the Award of the best Project for the Company with Social Impact in the Universities Category within the “Company” program, organized by INJAZ Bahrain for secondary and university students in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Dr. Al-Ansari noted the vital and important role played by INJAZ Bahrain in providing a platform for encouraging and supporting young people. He lauded the efforts exerted by UoB students in presenting innovative ideas and entrepreneurial solutions, wishing the winning team every success.
Dr. Al-Ansari thanked the academic supervisors who provided students with scientific and practical experiences that enabled them to overcome the student teams participating in the festival.
The student project called “Fuss”, which is a company that manufactures luxury products and decorations from date stones, won over other projects presented by nine local universities.
The project, which was carried out by a team of six female students in the Department of Media, Tourism and Arts, University of Bahrain contributes to preserving the environment, through recycling organic materials “date stones”, to manufacture luxury products and decorations. The female students team consisted of Ruqaya Abdulnabi Ali, Batool Abdullah Jassim, Zainab Khalil Ali, Hawra Mohammad Sabt, Maryam Salman Ibrahim, and Dana Ahmed Salman.
For her part, Injaz Bahrain Coordinator and Director of the Business Incubation Center at the University of Bahrain, Dr. Israa Ahmed Wali, explained that UoB participated in 10 out of 60 projects submitted by 29 secondary schools and 9 local universities. Dr. Wali noted that this program aims to empower Bahraini youth and prepare efficient and innovative entrepreneurs to enter the labor market.
Dr. Wali added that the program, which extends for one year, requires each student team to form a company with a board of directors and create, manufacture and market a product.
The winning project “Fuss” contributes to preserving the environment, through recycling organic materials, “date stones”, to manufacture luxury products and decorations.
Five teams of UoB students qualified for the next stage last April, out of ten teams in the second edition of INJAZ Bahrain Youth Festival. The teams competed in the “Company” program to promote their products and services and present them to the public at the national level.
It is worthy to note that UoB students won the award of the “Best Company with Social Impact”, within the “Company” program in 2020/2021, for the project of the Frond Platform which is concerned with supporting Bahraini families.
