The guidance program for new students in the new academic year (2023/2024) was launched at the University of Bahrain (UoB), on Sunday (10 September 2023), witnessing the attendance of nearly 1000 new students on the first day, and a remarkable activity in the University’s colleges and facilities.

The President of UoB, Dr. Fuad Mohammed Al-Ansari, welcomed the new students, wishing them a year full of success and excellence, and full of activity and liveliness, stating: “The University is keen to provide a comfortable atmosphere, which contributes to creating a quality educational environment”, as he called on students to work hard to achieve their ambitions for excellence and leadership.

Dr. Al-Ansari checked on several colleges during their organization of the guidance program, and praised the spirit of cooperation shown by the regular students of UoB who participated in organizing the program and using their fruitful academic experiences, in addition to the efforts of the academic body in explaining, clarifying, and answering the various inquiries of new students. He also praised the efforts of the advisors and mentors in the Deanship of Student Affairs, for the useful guidance and advice they provided, as well as the efforts of the various University departments in organizing this week.

The guidance program aims to prepare new students psychologically, educationally, and socially before the start of the university year, and to introduce them to their colleges, departments, academic programs, the nature of study in each program, study plans, and other information related to the new student.

The new students, accompanied by college representatives, toured the University’s various facilities and learned about the services available to them. Students were clearly informed about the entry and exit points designated for their colleges and were directed to the designated parking lots and informed of the required permits.

The students arrived at the university early on the first day of the program, and the students arrived at the university headquarters easily.

This year’s program extends for 5 days starting from 10th to the 14th of September 2023.

By making the guidance program accessible, the University seeks to provide new students with the opportunity to choose the days on which they wish to attend the program, and to benefit from field guidance in the colleges. The aim of organizing the program before the start of classes is to maintain the regularity and progress of study from the first day, and the University is keen – at the same time – not to affect students’ attendance at their lectures and courses.

It is worth noting that classes at UoB are scheduled to begin next Sunday (17 September 2023).
