Dr. Al-Ansari Confirms: UoB Has an Effective Role in Achieving SDGs UoB Discusses the Promotion of Human Rights Principles with UNDP

The President of the University of Bahrain (UoB), Dr. Fuad Mohammed Al-Ansari, stressed the University’s effective role in achieving sustainable development goals (SDGs), by focusing on human development in several aspects, including: developing higher education, gender equality in all aspects, and promoting work in the field of renewable energy.
This came when the University President received a delegation from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in the Kingdom of Bahrain, in the presence of the Senior Development Programs Officer, Ms. Jehan Salahuddin Al-Murbati, and the Security and Human Rights Specialist, Mr. Sean O’Connell, on Thursday (September 7, 2023), at the University’s campus in Sakhir.
For her part, Al-Murbati pointed out the vital role of education in social and economic development, and the importance of building cooperative partnerships between various sectors – societal, educational, and technical – to consolidate the concept of lifelong education and achieve comprehensive development.
While O’Connell reviewed aspects of UNDP’s interest in cultural, social and economic rights, including investing in human development, reducing inequalities, and the right to education. Additionally, he praised the Kingdom’s keenness to achieve its aspirations for sustainable development and confront climate change, by investing in human development and human rights, and strengthening international, regional and community partnerships.
From UoB, the meeting was attended by: Dean of the College of Law, Dr. Salah Mohammed Ahmed, Director of the Media Center, Dr. Mazen Mohammed Ali, Associate Professor, Director of the Legal Clinic and Human Rights Center, Dr. Saqr Eid Al-Ruwais, Assistant Professor in the Public Law Department, Noora Mohammed Al-Shamlan, and a number of Legal Clinic employees.
