The Acting Head of the College of Business Administration at the University of Bahrain (UoB), Dr. Abdullah Khalid Al Jalahma, stressed the importance of the professional certificate in building the professional path of students, calling for combining academic knowledge with mastering applied practical skills.
The Accounting Department at the College of Business Administration recently organized a lecture to introduce the advantages of the certificate of the British Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), in cooperation with the Association, which was attended by several University students, in Al-Salam Hall at the University’s headquarters in Sakhir.
Dr. Al Jalahma thanked the Association for its permanent cooperation with UoB through holding distinguished workshops and professional lectures, in addition to continuing to give awareness lectures aimed at introducing students to the most important professional certificates and qualifications that enhance their opportunities for work and access to prestigious professional jobs.
For his part, Director of the Middle East Office for Educational Relations, Taher Kapasi, confirmed that students have a fast track to obtain the ACCA qualification, through the exemptions offered to students majoring in accounting in particular, and students in other business administration majors in general.
Kapasi mentioned the requirements for obtaining the qualification, which include studying and passing a series of tests that measure professional ethics and scientific skills and obtaining practical experience for a period of 36 months (about 3 years) in the field of accounting and finance.
Moreover, the Business Relations Executive in the Middle East at ACCA, Ahmed Bilal Manzoor, noted that the certificate is internationally recognized and has updated content, qualifying its holders to excel in the accounting and finance profession. In addition, the student participating in the program will receive support in exams, work, professional development, career opportunities, employers’ trust, and an automatic network of connections.
Manzoor answered the students’ questions about career opportunities, stressing that, “A graduate of the ACCA certificate can work in several roles from the legal sector to financial services, consultancies, accounting, and general practice. They can fill various positions, for example: accounting, financial analysis, financial management, internal and external auditing, and others.”.
The session was moderated by Associate Professor in the Accounting Department, Dr. Gagan Kukreja, who encouraged the students to continue studying and learning, noting the possibility of obtaining easy opportunities to continue studying for a master’s degree in accounting after obtaining the ACCA certificate.
