UoB Launches the Website of the Equal Opportunities Committee

Coinciding with the Kingdom’s celebrations of Bahraini Women’s Day, the University of Bahrain (UoB) launched the website for the Equal Opportunities Committee at the University, in the presence of Dr. Fuad Mohammed Al-Ansari, President of UoB, and with broad participation from female academics and administrators at the University.

On this occasion, Dr. Fuad Mohammed Al-Ansari, President of UoB, confirmed that Bahraini women are persistent and ambitious, and through their competence, they have been able to hold high-ranking positions in all fields, under the prosperous reign of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the great King of the country, and with the continuous follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in addition to the support of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabika bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of the King of the country and President of the Supreme Council for Women.

Al-Ansari considered Bahraini Women’s Day highly symbolic, as a way to express society’s appreciation for the role of women, pointing out that Bahraini women were among the first women in the region to enroll in formal and university education, who worked hard to seek knowledge outside the Kingdom, and returned to stand shoulder to shoulder with men, to build and rebuild the country, congratulating all Bahraini women on their day.

For her part, Dr. Lina Mohammed Khenji, Dean of the College of Health and Sports Sciences (CHSS) and Head of the Equal Opportunities Committee at UoB, said that Bahraini women entered all fields and fulfilled their responsibilities with great skill and efficiency, which enabled them to continue developing themselves, building their families, their society and their country, to drive development and evolution at a steady pace, alongside men, in accordance with the principles of equal opportunities, gender balance, competitiveness, and sustainability, which receive the direct attention of the Supreme Council for Women.

In a speech she delivered during the launch ceremony of the University’s Equal Opportunities Committee website, Khenji pointed out that the University has contributed to graduating a group of distinguished Bahraini women, who have left a clear imprint of Bahraini women in various sectors and leadership and national positions.

At the ceremony, the President of the University honored the students of the College of Engineering who won the “Lahun” competition, as well as the members of the jury, which was prepared as part of the initiatives of the University’s Equal Opportunities Committee. As 45 projects participated in the “Lahun” competition to design a space for women that suits their needs as students, administrators, or academics, achieving an internal environment that supports women’s progress and the practice of their work efficiently and professionally.
