Khalid bin Hamad honors winners of His Highness Award for Graduation Projects in Engineering and Information Technology

Under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Supreme Council for Youth and Sport First Deputy Chairman, General Sports Authority (GSA) Chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) President, the closing ceremony of the “Khalid bin Hamad Award for Graduation Projects” was held for students of higher education institutions in the Kingdom. The ceremony was attended by Dr. Mohamed Mubarak Juma. Minister of Education, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University of Bahrain (UoB); Mohammed Ali Al Qaed, the Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA) Chief Executive, Dr. Diana Abdulkarim Al Johromi, the Higher Education Council (HEC) Secretary General, and Dr. Fuad Al Ansari, the President of UOB.

His Highness visited the exhibition in the lobby of the administration building at the University of Bahrain in Sakhir, where he was briefed on the innovative graduation projects of undergraduate students in various universities in the Kingdom of Bahrain, which amounted to 24 graduation projects in the disciplines of engineering and information technology.

His Highness honored the first three winning projects in engineering:

First place winner:

Riyadh Saleh Hassan, Isa Abdulaziz and Noman Abdul Ghaffar from UoB.

Second place winner:

Mohammad Al Afoo, Osama Al-Aliwat and Abbas Al Araibi from UoB.

Third place winner:

Rima Kameshki from the University of Applied Sciences (ASU).

His Highness also honored the information technology projects that won the first three places.

First place winner:

Nour Khalifa from the American University of Bahrain (AUBH).

Second place winner:

Ahmed Abdulrahman Miro, Omar Muhammad Eid and Ali Redha from UoB.

Third place winner:

Mohammed Al Basri from Bahrain Polytechnic.

Celebrating this occasion, HH Shaikh Khalid congratulated the winners of the first three engineering and information technology projects, praising their innovative projects that reflect the Kingdom’s youth ability and creativity, praising all participants and wishing them more luck in the next editions.

His Highness stressed that the award is one of the important initiatives to support male and female students and provide them with the opportunity to showcase their projects and innovations, which pushes them towards raising their levels and capabilities and preparing them to be able to enter the labor market and contribute to the development and development of society. His Highness pointed out the importance of benefiting from these projects in various sectors, wishing the participating students more achievements and success.

On his part, Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma expressed his thanks and gratitude for His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa’s patronage of the closing ceremony of His Highness’s Award for Graduation Projects for students of higher education institutions in the Kingdom, as part of his interest and support for the Bahraini youth’s creative and innovative projects.

H.E. Dr. Fuad Mohammed Al-Ansari, President of the University of Bahrain said: “The Khalid Bin Hamad Award for Graduation Projects emphasizes the role of youth in making change, and the need to benefit from technology in facing challenges in the industrial, economic and educational sectors, as well as the importance of students’ skills in critical thinking, leadership, creative problem solving, and teamwork, as well as pushing them towards excellence and giving.”

Dr. Al Ansari added: “The students’ projects included innovative engineering and technical proposals and solutions for private sector institutions, and these proposals and solutions were discussed with specialized experts, who were keen to attend the exhibition, and a good number of scientific papers resulting from the projects were published, pointing to the university’s keenness to provide equal opportunities for students to showcase their skills, encourage them to innovate and make change, and also its keenness to address real-world challenges, by adopting sustainability standards and community service in their projects.”

It is worth noting that 75 student projects for the academic years 2021/2022 and 2022/2023 competed for the award, and the jury later tested 24 distinguished and innovative projects to compete for the top three places.
