The University of Bahrain organized a workshop under the theme “Applications of Electrochemical Technologies for Sustainable Development”, with the participation of 32 engineers and technicians from Bapco Energies’ subsidiaries, Aluminum Bahrain (Alba), and Electricity and Water Authority (EWA).
The workshop aimed to introduce participants to the basics of electrochemical technologies and multiple applications thereof, particularly those that can be used locally in industrial processes related to hydrogen, water, electricity, chemicals, and minerals.
The workshop, organized by the Community Service & Continuing Education Center and the College of Engineering with the support of Bapco Energies, addressed the role of electrochemical technologies in increasing productivity while reducing emissions, rationalizing energy use, and how to integrate those technologies with other technologies.
Dr. Shaker Mohammed Haji, Associate Professor, Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Bahrain, and Dr. Viji Ramani, Professor, Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri lectured in the workshop.
