The 2nd International Conference on Sustaining Heritage discussed 23 research papers UOB Conference Calls for the Adoption of Innovative Digital Solutions to Preserve Cultural Heritage
The 2nd International Conference on Sustaining Heritage, organized by the University of Bahrain, emphasized the importance of adopting innovative digital solutions to preserve both tangible and intangible heritage.
The conference featured discussions on 23 scientific papers, with the participation of numerous experts dedicated to preserving and promoting cultural and humanitarian heritage.
The conference, held online under the theme “Embracing Technological Advancements,” reviewed four distinct paths exploring innovative and digital methods for heritage preservation: reimagining urban heritage through digital interventions, advancements in digital archaeology and heritage conservation, digital transformation to represent intangible heritage, and sustainable solutions for cultural heritage management.
The conference featured notable speakers, including Prof. Christer Gustafsson from Uppsala University, Sweden, who discussed “The Multidimensional Implications of Cultural Heritage through Regional Development and Circular Economy,” Prof. Hossam Elborombaly from Ain Shams University, Egypt, who presented “Smart Predictive Maintenance of Heritage Construction and Methodologies”, and Dr. Mounir Bouchnaki, Adviser at the Arab Regional Centre for World Heritage (ARC-WH), who spoke on heritage conservation concepts, its history, types, and development.
The conference was organized by the Deanship of Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research in collaboration with the University’s College of Engineering, with support from IEEE Bahrain.
