Graduation Project at UOB wins Council of Representatives’ Award for Empowering People of Determination

A team of graduates from the University of Bahrain won the Council of Representatives Award for Empowering People of Determination 2024 in the Individuals and Civil Society Institutions category. The competition was organized by the Council of Representatives and took place on Wednesday, May 8, 2024.

His Excellency Mr. Ahmed bin Salman Al-Musalam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, honored the winning team from the University of Bahrain.

The honoring ceremony was attended by HE Speaker of the Shura Council Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, a number of ministers, members of the Shura Council and the Council of Representatives, officials, and heads of universities, associations and bodies.

 

UOB Students participated with the Boccia Experience System, a game designed for people of determination. It integrates artificial intelligence, machine learning, 3D simulation, and cloud computing services. The system helps referees manage matches more quickly and efficiently during tournaments, eliminating long waiting times and manual measurement processes.

The project won at the Graduation Projects Exhibition of the College of Information Technology. It was developed by graduates Maryam Ibrahim, Weam Ajoor, Nawaf Nazir, Tasneem Tantawi, Fatima Al-Mirbati, Aisha Iman, Ali Reza, Walaa Ibrahim, and Maria Al-Awadhi. The project was completed in collaboration with the Cloud Innovation Center at the University of Bahrain, Amazon Web Services, and the Bahrain Paralympic Committee.
