More Electronic Services

Selling Books Electronically Through the National Portal was a Successful
Experience
In cooperation with the Information and eGovernment
Authority, President of the University of Bahrain (UOB) Dr. Riyad Yousif Hamzah
confirmed that the University is looking forward to developing more electronic
services for students, noting the positive impact of such projects in promoting
digital transformation at the University.
As the national portal (bahrain.bh) provides several
services to university students, including online admission, payment of fees,
and updating data, and the portal has recently added textbooks purchase
service.
Furthermore, the University President added that “The
figures of the E-Government Authority indicate that the rate of use of textbooks
purchase service by UOB students through the National Portal reached 100% last
semester, and the number of visits of the portal reached more than 34 thousand
visits by the end of the year 2019, with 5594 financial transactions done”,
stressing that “these numbers reflect the success of the service and students’
positive interaction with it.”
Also, he indicated that “the University seeks to develop
all of its services electronically within its strategy for digital
transformation to upgrade the electronic programs and services offered by the University
to its members,” noting that ” it is known that electronic
transactions reduce costs and effort and shorten the time as well.”
Moreover, the University President thanked the Information
and E-Government Authority and its technical team for their important role in
promoting digital transformation in the Kingdom of Bahrain and for their
cooperation with the University in implementing several pioneering projects at
the level of the Kingdom and the region.
