Welcome to the University of Bahrain. Starting University can be a daunting experience and we know there’s lots to learn during your first few weeks. Here’s some of our top tips to get you started.

- All students have a university email address ID@stu.uob.edu.bh and we will only communicate with you through a university email.
- Log in to your university email daily to make sure you don’t miss out on important communication.
Use Microsoft office 365 Free Access www.office.com (click here) using your university email to download Microsoft Outlook (click here) and set up your university email account.
Once your UoB account is activated, and your university email is set up, you will be able to use the following e-services:
- Access & explore the Student Information System (SIS). You can access your academic records, register for courses, check grades and GPA, and view study plans.

- To read the SIS Student Guide.
- Free WIFI – Stay connected and connect your electronic devices to the university’s campus WIFI. (Students Network: student-1x).
- Password Recovery: to reset your password and secure your account access, log in to bot.uob.edu.bh. The service is available 24/7.
- UoB Mobile App – Download the university app for your class attendance to get your digital ID, and view your transcripts and course schedule.
Once your UoB account is activated, and your university email is set up, you will be able to use the Most Important systems during your university life:
- Student Information System(SIS),
- Microsoft Teams,
- Blackboard System,
- and of course your University Email which considered a vital way of communication.
Getting started:

- Blackboard system is the official Learning Management System (LMS) adopted at UoB. The BB portal can be accessed through https://blackboard.uob.edu.bh/
- Free Office 365 and Email – Sign in to office 365 (www.office.com)for free using your university email, and get advantage of the FREE Microsoft office suite, cloud storage with OneDrive and collaboration tools.
- Microsoft Teams – Download Microsoft Teams (click here) and log in (click here) for free using your university email.
- Microsoft Outlook: Download Microsoft Outlook (click here) and set up your university email.
- MATLAB: Take advantage of challenging but fun opportunities to develop your MATLAB and Simulink skills and prepare for a promising technical career. (mostly used by science and engineering students).

- Your Academic advisor can offer tips and guidance.
At university, you’re expected to take responsibility for your own learning. There are some few tips to help you mange your time:
- Check your timetable on SIS in advance so you know what classes and lectures you have scheduled
- Identify when your assessments are due for the term and plan accordingly, some lecturers use Blackboard or Microsoft Teams to provide a useful deadline counter to help you keep track, you will be guided which application will be used by your lecturer.
- Avoid falling behind as this can be a downward spiral of non-attendance.
- When thinking about your Year 1 courses, look at your Academic Plan for the courses you may wish to take in Year 2 and 3 and check what pre-requisite courses are required.
- Meet your academic advisor and discuss your concerns related to your study plan.
