The assistant professor in the Information Systems Department, College of Information Technology, University of Bahrain, Dr. Amal Mohammad Al-Rayes, was recently awarded the “UK-Gulf Women in CyberSecurity Fellowship Program”, as the first academic at UoB to receive this fellowship.

Dr. Al-Rayes discussed essential ideas -to present them for discussion at the College of Information Technology at the university-, on developing collaboration between the program organizers and the concerned parties at UoB, to enhance cybersecurity in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the GCC countries and provide various courses and workshops that serve the parties common goals.

The UK program is concerned with empowering, mentoring and supporting current and future women leaders in the cybersecurity sector in the Gulf region. Program affiliates work with external experts in workshops, discussions, trade union groups, and bilateral sessions to exchange knowledge and information, promote projects of common interest, improve awareness about cybersecurity in the Gulf region and the Arab world, provide knowledge and resources that benefit professionals in the region and raise awareness of female professionals and support their work in the field of cybersecurity.
