Scientific Journal at UoB Became a Trusted Global Platform for Publishing Research and Knowledge

The President of the University of Bahrain, Dr. Jawaher bint Shaheen Al-Mudhaki, congratulated the editors of the Arab Journal of Basic and Applied Sciences at the University of Bahrain for becoming one of the most prestigious international scientific journals and turning into a well-known and trusted platform for publishing of scientific knowledge.

Dr. Al-Mudhahki stated that “This achievement is a source of pride for the University of Bahrain, as the Journal -during the previous period -was able to attract many international scholars, researchers, and reviewers who contributed to enriching the scientific Journal.”

The latest report of the Journal revealed an increase in browsing the Journal’s research by 14%, and an increase of about 33% in the total number of downloads of research published during 2021 compared to 2020. The number of research downloads by the end of 2021 reached141,708 downloads. This indicated researchers increasing demand for the scientific knowledge and research published by the Arab Journal of Basic and Applied Sciences around the world.

The report also indicated that India ranked first in downloading research from the Journal, followed by the United States of America, Germany and China. In addition, the Journal witnessed an increase in the speed of processing and reviewing of research. The percentage of research rejected in 2021 reached 78%, which reflects the advanced level of the journal.

On his part, Professor Mohammad Mustafa Al-Helou, Dean of the College of Science at the University, and the editor-in-chief of the Journal, attributed this progress to linking the Journal and the research published in it to global search engines, accuracy in research reviewing by specialists in various countries around the world, and the editorial board which includes distinguished researchers from different geographic regions around the world.

The Arab Journal of Basic and Applied Sciences has been published by the University of Bahrain since 2005. It is one of the activities of the Association of Colleges of Science, part of the Association of Arab Universities, based in the College of Science at the University of Bahrain.

Notably, the Arab Journal of Basic and Applied Sciences published 28 issues, 19 of which in collaboration with an international publisher, of which 392 research papers were Scopus indexed. The research papers were quoted 4,551 times by researchers around the world. The Journal ranked (32) on Hirsch-index and (4) on Scopus criterion for 2021, which reflects the level of the Journal’s status among similar scientific journals.

The Arab Journal of Basic and Applied Sciences is classified among the first quarter journals in the field of mathematics and ranked 17 out of 378 journals. It also ranked 12 out of 65 in the field of energy, 39 out of 220 in the field of environmental sciences and 21 out of 209 in the field of agriculture and life sciences.
