A Student at the University of Bahrain Wins Third Place in the Arab IoT & AI Challenge

The President of the University of Bahrain, Dr. Jawaher bint Shaheen Al-Mudhahki, congratulated Farouk Abdulaziz, student in the Master of Artificial Intelligence program, College of Engineering, on winning the third place in the Arab Challenge for the Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence, recently held on the sidelines of the GITEX Global in the United Arab Emirates.
Abdulaziz had developed a device that analyzes the daily consumption of water and measures its quality according to the Internet of Things technology. The device enables home or building owners to monitor the daily consumption and detect any leakage in the water network.
Dr. Al-Mudhaki received the winning student on Tuesday October 18, 2022, and lauded the project and its idea, pointing out that it contributes to monitoring consumption and stopping water waste that may result from hidden or sudden leaks.
The University president stressed that the participation of UoB students in such competitions gives them new experiences and motivates them to work hard and be more creative. She added that such competitions broaden students’ perceptions and horizons of thinking, noting the positive roles of the College of Engineering’s professors in helping and encouraging students.
For his part, the student, Farouk Abdulaziz, extended his thanks to the University President for congratulating and encouraging him, pointing out that the University’s celebration of its students’ successes affirms the University’s support for them to compete in such fields, and its trust in the quality of its outputs and the capabilities of its students.
The Dean of the College of Engineering, Dr. Sheikha Haifa bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa attended the meeting.
It is worth noting that 12 Arab countries participated in the Arab Challenge for the Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence, which was organized by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Technology Management Branch, in collaboration with the University of Dubai and the Academy of Scientific Research in the United Arab Emirates.
